Harare Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Of course. Any media outlet endorsing anything other than Conservative is the devil... Any newspaper ever touched by the Asper family is decided Conservative before even examining the issues. Since that covers a good deal of Canada's media, Conservative supporters cannot complain about the slimmer number od media sources that advocate the Liberals. Aspers are Liberals, get your story straight. The National Post was only really conservative under Mr. Black. And there is nothing wrong with a Liberal media outlet, in fact, I welcome it. Not funded by taxpayers though. Publicly funded TV is dangerous, no matter how long the arms length its operatthd at is. I shouldn't have to pay for Liberal TV just because its not commericially viable. You get your story straight. The great and legendary Izzy Asper was a proud Conservative, and he went as far as to fire editorialists who ventured too far left of his own positions. You are both right and of course both wrong also. There are two sacred cows for the Aspers which CanWest journalists dare not criticize. First of these was the Liberal party. Izzy Asper headed the Manitoba Liberals in the 1970s; former prime minister Jean Chrétien visited Izzy in the hospital, days before he died in 2003. Not surprisingly, their papers and other media rarely went after Chrétien’s scandal-ridden government. That situation has changed now, since the passing of Izzy and the retirement of Jean Chrétien. Most CanWest papers are pushing for the Conservative party of Stephen Harper. Quote Having experienced, first hand the disaster of wooley headed Lib/Socialist thinking in Africa for 20 yrs you can guess where I stand. It doesn't work, never has and never will.

Theres not alot of bias on CanWest TV or in papers situated in more liberal areas. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
kimmy Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Just saw it on the Liberal Web site.Hmmmm, not terrible ... I guess. Don't really know how many votes it will swing this late in the game. Maybe Kinsella is right and it is an ad helped to protect the few ridings the Liberals have left. I just saw the new Liberal ad too, and I think it is actually quite good. It shows Paul Martin looking and sounding like a Prime Minister, something he has not looked like throughout the whole campaign. This is the Paul Martin that we wanted when he took over from Chretien; sadly we've seen precious little of this Paul Martin for a few years. If they had come out with this sort of thing sooner it might have had a bigger impact than the attack ads they went with instead. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
betsy Posted January 18, 2006 Author Report Posted January 18, 2006 betsy It is now Tue. Jan.17/2006, 11:37A.M. EST and no sign of any bomb. I think the only bomb is the one between M.Duffy's ears. He can't believe the Liberals are going down the tube. He was also a B.Mulroney die hard. One of the last who could not believe Mr.Mulroney was politically finished. Remember those swollen watery eyes. He may have been a staunch Liberal...but definitely not anymore. He's one of those who had finally seen the light. I've watched him steadily since the first debate (both daily shows) and although he tries to appear neutral, he is helping out the Conservatives....and poking holes/shooting down Liberals...in a sly way. Last night when he had Harper on a one-on-one, his last question was clearly to give Harper a chance to clearly point out why there must be no fear at all about him winning a majority as far as governing is concerned. Harper, with the aid of Duffy, pointed out that if the Conservatives win as a majority, the party's hands would still be tied by the various appointees of the Liberal in various office. Duffy reminded the viewers how Mulroney's term was made miserable by the appointees. When he described the new Liberal ad as "touching"....there was a slight innuendo, which Anne McLellan tried to correct. Peter McKay was let to rant for so long that he used up a good portion of air time....so when the NDP guy's turn came up to rebutt and whack Conservatives, Duffy said "you've got only 30 seconds." Two labor leaders (one helping Stronach and pushing for the Liberal) and the other was for the NDP had in the end the same message: Prevent the Conservatives from taking hold. That the lesser of evil will be either Liberal or NDP. Duffy jokingly quipped: "Gee, you two sound so well-rehearsed." Duffy had the last words and the two looked discomfitted. All of the above happened last night. Check it out....he's definitely changed. Duffy is cleverly bringing out issues that may be used against Harper...making light of them....and thus, inocculating Harper. Quote
