There's no stretch, like zero. That doesnt' make it the immigrants fault don't get me wrong, but when you have a radical increase in demand that isnt' really planned for by the industry then you get pressure on supply. I mean - of COURSE you do. Industries can absorb slow changes over time but we've quadrupled our immigration in just 7 years, and of course all of our supply chains are going to feel that. IT's not controversial and it's not a 'bad' thing or anything - but if a gov't wants to increase immigration like that it's really got to meet with various groups like food producers and look at how that's going to be managed. The inputs being the produce that you folks import from elsewhere. My guess is that Canada imports quite a bit due to challenging climate and being somewhat affluent. You partially read that correctly. The entire supply chain, from buying the seed, planting, growing and picking and processing and transporting, import fees and taxes etc are all part of the cost of the product. As it is with all things we need and buy. To blame one sector of the supply chain is not only uninformed and unfair, it is naive. As far as produce is concerned, yes, Canada has limited growing season and one harvest per year (generally) and therefore must import what we need and want. Affluence has nothing to do with it. We are beholding to the market forces and have no other choice except not to buy.... as with consumers all over North America (and perhaps world wide) Quote You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to tell me what mine should be.
