Rebound Posted January 10, 2024 Report Posted January 10, 2024 (edited) Hunter Biden is facing possible Contempt of Congress charges because he has refused to testify to Congress in secret. To be clear, Biden has agreed to testify publicly before Congress. He has refused to testify secretly because he believes that politicians will selectively leak to the media portions of his answers, taken out context. He therefore offers to testify in public, with all video cameras rolling and a full public record of his testimony. Of course, this is all for show, because the Congress’ only authority is to refer the matter to the DoJ for prosecution. Although this would then be referred to the Special Prosecutor tasked with Hunter Biden, it is unlikely the SP will want to take a case to test whether or not Congress has the right to compel SECRET TESTIMONY. It seems very doubtful that Congress has such a right, especially in the case of an individual whom Congress is seeking to punish. The fifth amendment protects the right of the accused from testifying against him or herself, although Biden has already stated that he will answer any and all questions, as long as it is done publicly.
