betsy Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 The Conservatives are far from clean. Click on the "Ethically Green" video clip. Ethically Green The Conservative from the past is not the same as the Conservatives now. Why doesn't that argument fly when the Liberals point out it was a Chretien and not a Martin led party that had the problems. Because Martin was Finance Minister under Chretien. Because Gomery Commission was appointed by Martin. Because some of those crooks from the Sponsorship scandal are hidden and protected by the current Liberals. Because the Income Trust Scandal happened under Martin's watch. Because the guy involved in the Options Canada scandal was the right hand man and close friend of Martin. Because there doesn't seem to be a break in the pattern...from the old regime to the new. Quote
Guest eureka Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Oh but it is the same Party, betsy. It is the two warring wings of the PC Party of old fused under the control of the wrong wing. The radicals have defeated the conservatives. Quote

The radicals have defeated the conservatives. Translation: The conservatives have defeated the liberals, who have largely fled to the Liberals and NDP, where they belong. Kula Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 I am a Conservative and I did not vote for Mulroney because of his scandals. The Conservative Party was virtually wiped off the map. I believe the Conservatives learned from the Mulroney years, the Liberals didn't. We must punish the Liberals to end the corruption. It's the only way to take back control of our government. Kula The problem with PC people like Clark and to a lesser extent Mulrooney is that they were the same as the Martin Liberal Party. After all, it was the Trudeau wing of the party that is left-wing. The Liberal Party has shifted several degrees to the right-wing since then. Harper is slightly to the right of Clark and Mulrooney.
