California schools may someday require African-American studies — a move to ‘directly counter’ laws like Florida’s ‘Stop WOKE’

As the nation’s culture wars rage and states like Florida adopt new laws and policies limiting what can be taught about racism in schools, the California reparations task force is set to propose to legislators that they do just the opposite: boost the teaching of African-American studies in the state’s schools.

That means California, whose governor last year signed first-in-the-nation legislation requiring ethnic studies in high school, could also someday adopt African-American studies in its K-12 curriculum — while on the other side of the country, Florida teachers grapple with changes to the education system that they say are affecting student-teacher relationships, and making them question whether they want to keep teaching.

“It is actually essential that [the task force’s recommendations are] happening at this time,” Cheryl Grills, a member of California’s reparations task force, told MarketWatch. “The stance of folks like [Florida Gov. Ron] DeSantis represents an opportunity for deeper reflection as a country about why it’s scary for people to hear facts and truths that don’t align with their world view.”

In other words, that goose stepping welfare state is going to ban this schitt.

Florida rejects AP African American course that contained elements of CRT, 'Black Queer Studies

The state of Florida Department of Education (DOE) rejected an Advanced Placement (AP) African Studies Course because it lacks educational value and historical accuracy, according to a letter sent to the College Board by the state.

"As submitted, the course is a vehicle for a political agenda and leaves large, ambiguous gaps that can be filled with additional ideological material, which we will not allow," Bryan Griffin, press secretary to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said in a statement. "As Governor DeSantis has stated, our classrooms will be a place for education, not indoctrination."

The course contains tenets of Critical Race Theory (CRT) and elements of queer theory, according to a copy of the syllabus obtained by Fox News Digital.

A section of the course, titled "African American Studies: Movements and Methods," includes a lesson on "Black Queer Studies" that teaches students about "the concept of the queer of color critique, grounded in Black feminism and intersectionality, as a Black studies lens that shifts sexuality studies toward racial analysis," according to the syllabus.

Remember, California was the place where MATH became racist, where public school teachers are prohibited from giving any grade lower than a C because of what it will do to a dumbass student's self image.

Your evidence is there. California is officially STUPID.

If ANY posters from either side of the aisle have an opinion on this factual thread, your comments are always welcome. The information is right there and it is factual. Florida classrooms are for EDUCATION, not indoctrination.

Oh, and something else I found a bit confusing. (maybe because I've lived longer than most people here.)

EVERYONE regardless of ideology, agrees that Slavery was wrong and racism was wrong. And we came to those conclusions based on what we were taught in school over the years.

So how do we get a clearer picture of slavery with BLACK QUEER STUDIES, or Critical Race Theory (which has been debunked as bullshitt RACIST indoctrination)? I grew up in the public schools of North Carolina back in the Sixties and got an accurate picture of what the Civil War was based on. Why are goose stepping liberals wanting to shove BLACK QUEER STUDIES in our faces? How does that enhance the concept of African American studies?

I will show you how an elitist talks, you will get rare episodes of me like this, most of it, will be just calling you out and engaging in mob politics.

  • Mathematics is a subject that is taught using a standardized curriculum across the United States, and there is no evidence to suggest that math is being taught differently or is being used to perpetuate racism in California.
  • Secondly, there is no policy in California that prohibits teachers from giving grades lower than a C. Teachers in California are expected to evaluate students based on their academic performance, and grades are meant to reflect a student's level of mastery in the subject. It is not accurate to suggest that all students in California receive inflated grades.
  • I made a mistake initially, mathematics specifically in Florida does lead in scoring over California at different age groups.

OVERALL though, that is a different story, data below:

U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Rankings 2021:

  • Florida had 44 schools ranked in the top 1,000 nationally, with 5 of them ranked in the top 100.
  • California had 296 schools ranked in the top 1,000 nationally, with 103 of them ranked in the top 100 at one point.

https://www.capoliticalreview.com/capoliticalnewsandviews/californias-new-educational-guidelines-say-math-is-racist/

California’s new educational guidelines say math is racist

Math in California government schools has become a weapon.  It is war, just another version.  No longer is the goal learning and understanding

“California is set to adopt new math teaching principles that are based in critical race theory. These changes, which include deemphasizing calculus and pulling programs for academically gifted students, will “apply social justice principles to math lessons.”

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10306303/Common-sense-fail-Woke-California-school-boards-BAN-teachers-giving-D-F-grades.html

Common sense fail! Woke California school boards BAN teachers from giving D and F grades and will instead offer students chance to try work again or mark it as 'incomplete' in a bid to help black, Latino and low-income students during the pandemic

  • LA, Oakland, Sacramento and Santa Ana are among the districts trialing the new system
  • D and F grades will no longer be issued, and instead students will be given fresh opportunities to take the tests or complete the work
  • Supporters say that it is necessary to reduce the trauma from the pandemic and support students in need, with black and Latino students more affected
  • Critics say that it is 'lying' to students, dumbing down, and reducing their ability to function in the wider world
  • In October 2020 both San Diego and New York City school districts announced they were allowing schools to get rid of D and F grades
  • They said it was to level the playing field as a result of the pandemic - although San Diego said they had been considering the plan since 2018

In the state of Florida (at least in the two counties I substitute teach at) students are expected to do better work than that. If they don't, they get a D or an F, which correctly reflects whether or not they did the work and actually learned something. That means the State of Florida expects MORE from our young skulls full of mush. And it translates to Florida students being smarter than California students.

Also, there just isn't enough time for do-overs in Florida schools. Our standards are too high and there just isn't time to give special privileges to those who are too stupid and lazy to do the work.

HERE, we do not discriminate. ALL kids in our schools are created equal, and all are judged EQUALLY.  Race, national origin, parent incomes, NONE of that is relevant. It's all according to the work the student does.

This makes Florida superior to California. (That and our brilliant Governor, versus that incompetent retard running Cal.)

In terms of mathematics, yes, it seems so:

1. Education Week's Quality Counts 2021 Report:

Florida ranked 4th overall in the nation with a grade of B-.

California ranked 35th overall in the nation with a grade of C+.

2. National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) 2019 Report:

In 4th-grade mathematics, Florida scored an average of 242, while California scored an average of 235.

In 8th-grade mathematics, Florida scored an average of 284, while California scored an average of 276.

---> But Overall, California Wins, can't fight the data:

I think this is where the balance will happen. Might be ok to open thousands of programs to study social programs, but as soon as one starts messing with the mathematics sphere, then things will slow down in the department of being what you call "woke" , is my estimation.

At the same time, every generation was called every name under the sun from the Times of the Roman Empire writings by the old.

However, the new generation tends to grow up, gets a mortgage, and learn some personal responsibility via paying bills.

Real Life teaches you fast to survive.

None of your sources are reliable. They are blue state left wing sources. The math scores prove it. California considers math to be racist. So there's NO WAY it's math scores are as high as Florida's.

Our governor fought tooth and nail against the MATH IS RACIST bullshit that the WokeNazis were trying to goose step into our system.

Florida voters are smarter than California voters. It's as simple as that. And no bullshit left wing Woke sources will change the truth about that. And now, California is about to infect it's waning, inferior education system with BLACK QUEER STUDIES, and CRT.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — WARNING: Article contains graphic video that may be disturbing to some.

New video has been released by deputies of a paraprofessional who was beaten by a student at Matanzas High School Tuesday, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

FCSO deputies responded to the high school after reports of an employee being physically attacked on campus. Upon arrival, officials found a woman on the ground with severe injuries, according to the arrest report.  When deputies spoke with the student, he explained that he was upset because the teacher took his Nintendo Switch during class.

He also told officials he will "beat her up" anytime she tries to take his game.

You can watch a video of the attack below. Be aware, it's extremely graphic. Viewer discretion is advised.

Investigators were able to review the attack when they reviewed the school's surveillance footage. Deputies say the 6’6” and 270 pound student can be seen walking quickly towards the teacher before knocking her to the floor, leaving her unconscious.

The student is then seen kicking and punching the unconscious woman in the back and head around 15 times, according to officials.

The educator was rushed to the hospital for her injuries, according to the arrest report. She has since been released.

There are easily over 100 ways to compare the education systems of two states, so what is the point of concluding that one is superior to another based on only one metric?

California is a massive state. It’s ten percent of the nation’s population and 15% of the nation’s economy.  There are ultra-liberals, ultra-conservatives and ultra-libertarians. Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan were California’s two Presidents.

The rounding error of California’s population is bigger than the population of several entire states.  Several California cities have populations larger than many entire states.  If California were evenly divided into ten states, each of those states would still have a higher population than twenty-one states!  This makes these comparisons unrealistic.
