Argus Posted April 13, 2019 Report Posted April 13, 2019 So after spending the last few years calling anyone and everyone who was concerned about all the illegal border crossings names, and insinuating they were racists, xenophobic and 'unCanadian' the Liberals have quietly introduced a piece of legislation hidden in their omnibus budget bill which would deny asylum seekers who had crossed the border, or who had applied for asylum anywhere else even a hearing! And would also deport them back to their home country, not the place they had come from or applied for asylum in. This is WAY further than Scheer and the Conservatives had proposed. You might wonder how it is the Liberals can do something like this after the years of accusing others of xenophobia and racism for showing any concern, but of course, being a hypocrite means never having to say you're sorry - or admitting you were wrong - or even admitting your new policy is even slightly different than the old policy. The truth is that this legislation is clearly unconstitutional. It flies directly in the face of the Singh decision. It's obviously not actually intended to do anything about illegal immigration or refugee shopping. It's nothing but an election ploy. The Liberals are going to delay the implementation until it's too close to the election to be ruled unconstitutional. That way they can wave it in the air as a defense when the Conservatives accuse them of having no control of the border. Then, when it's ruled unconstitutional (hopefully AFTER the election) they can shrug and smile and say "Well, we tried." then go on ignoring the problem they've created. Buried deep inside the 392 pages of Bill C-97, the budget implementation bill, is a package of amendments to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act that would turn decades of Canadian refugee policy on its head. The changes would disqualify from consideration refugee claimants who had previously made claims in “a country other than Canada.” (Also ineligible: those whose claims had already been rejected in Canada, or who had been granted refugee protection elsewhere.) What is more, this would apply even to those already on our soil, seeking asylum. This sort of draconian shift in policy would be shocking coming from any government; among other objections, the courts are almost certain to rule it is a violation of the Charter of Rights. But to find it proposed by the same Liberal government that had long congratulated itself for its commitment to refugee rights, while castigating critics as intolerant, racist and worse, is simply breathtaking. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/andrew-coyne-in-two-years-liberals-go-from-welcometocanada-to-deportations-without-hearings Quote "A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley
taxme Posted April 13, 2019 Report Posted April 13, 2019 (edited) Indeed this is all just bull chit cover up. It comes so easy and natural for lieberals to lie. It's in their lieberal DNA to lie. Nobody in their right mind should ever believe what a lieberal says. If they do then they are truly lying to themselves. Just saying. I guess that's why Canadians have chosen Liberals to lead their country more often than the righties eh. Edited April 13, 2019 by Owly Quote
taxme Posted April 13, 2019 Report Posted April 13, 2019 I have found out over the years that most Canadians appear to be quite clueless when it comes to Canadian politics. Why they keep choosing french leftist liberals and NDP socialists/communists is beyond comprehension. This country never really ever had that many conservative governments in power long enough in Canada to make and keep and do things smart and proper. They mostly just keep voting for Quebec politicians who have done nothing for Canada but who have pretty much destroyed this once great WASP/European nation called Canada. Canada needs more "righties" to run and rule this country. Having voted for and allowing too many french leftist lieberals and no mind socialists to run this country has been a disaster for Canada and it shows. Aw well. 1 1 Quote
