Guest eureka Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Since you cannot read what I have said already, Wilber, there is no need for any "comeback." It would be wasted on you. Try very hard and you may come to some appreciation of the issues. Quote
Wilber Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Once again, Sparhawk, we are in agreement. I, too, think we should go back to the original model of Confederation. That time was when the federal government was the controlling authority for Canada and had the important jurisdictions. That was before the Supreme Court began to be overruled by the Lords of the Privy Council on matters of jurisdiction and rhe important things for all Canadians wre given to the vagaries of Provincial Legislatures. That was when Canada was one nation. Well Eureka, from the look of this post you want the same type of Federal Government we have now with even more powers and a big Central Canada dominated fist to keep us all in our proper place. If you have some other vision for Canada, I wouldn't mind hearing it because it needs one. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
fellowtraveller Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 It's going to take a real paradigm shift, a real kick up the arse, for the Eurekas to wake up and realize that we aren't in Kansas anymore. Quebec is pulling on their best boots, freshly shined, to deliver the wakeup call. Quote The government should do something.
Guest eureka Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 What I want is a central government with the power to govern: a government like the one we had before all the power hungry provincialists began their destructive machinations. What I want is for Canada to be able to take its place in the body of nations through a real government which it does not now have and is the only country in the world that does not. If you think that is anything to do with big fists, then you are even less aware than you have shown so far. Fellowtraveller, of course, is already lost in spite of his reasonableness on some issues. On this one he wears blinders. Quote

Then you are going to have to come up with a central government that includes the whole country in a real way. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
