bigdude Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Is this the best Canada has to offer - scumballs, sleaze, and Canada being cited by AI for HR violations. Question Period Today NDP Leader Jack Layton said his party's members were also deeply concerned about the tapes, which he said had “placed the entire House under a real cloud.”Mr. Layton asked Mr. Martin to explain why has not initiated a RCMP investigation into the allegations. Mr. Martin replied it is not up to the government to initiate an RCMP investigation and that the tapes are currently in the possession of Mr. Grewal, who he called upon to make the tapes available to the public. NDP MP Alexa McDonough applauded the end of the government's “stonewalling” of the Maher Arar inquiry after releasing a memo it previously held for what it said were security reasons. “The memo released today proves that this government has been frustrating the public's right to know the truth by viciously retracting documents pertinent to the inquiry and doing so in a manner highly prejudicial to Maher Arar,” she said. Ms. McDonough called on the government continued co-operation in Arar commission. What's happening with the budget & Harper's falling flat on his face with another one of his non-confidence motions that no one in Canada wants except for a few extremist Cons? Quote
ScottBrison Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 No, we have the NDP, the party that has governed 2 of the 3 most populous and prosperous provinces in Canada into the ground. Keep workin hard boys, I'm sure you'll get your chance to destroy Quebec's finances some day too. And then one glorious day....The NDP will get a chance to ruin the ENTIRE country! Oh just think of it! We'll have unions EVERYWHERE! What good it would do since there'd be no businesses left I don't know, but hey we can cross that bridge when wecome to it. Quote

Hang on.... anyone know how to tie a noose? LOL Nice post Brison! Quote

Certainly better than the Filmon years; there is still a lot of bitterness when you talk to people about life under the Conservatives. Our economy is good, our social programs are relatively healthy, and people are able to work full time, not forced to take "Filmon Fridays" so the government can save a day's salary here and there. bigdude Posted May 30, 2005 Author Report Posted May 30, 2005 Tape transcripts to shed light on Grewal claims New Democrat leader Jack Layton sure seems fired up about these Grewal tapes - what's going on here anyways? And we (Cons) are going to turn the tapes over to the RCMP at some point in the future. Is that not withholding evidence? Quote
willy Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 New Democrat leader Jack Layton sure seems fired up about these Grewal tapes - what's going on here anyways? It is much simpler than it might first seem. You see Jack isn't that noble he is just playing politics. In BC where Grewal is from, the NDP has the best chances of gaining seats in the next election. Jack is just trying to play regional politics. Grewal for those not from these parts represents a strong provincial NDP riding. Quote
takeanumber Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 When will the RCMP press charges against Grewal and the CPC leadership for illegal wiretapping? Quote
bigdude Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 !It's not that cut and dried apparently. There is wirtaping and there is wiretaping! I'm sure this whole issue is going to get major exposure before it is all over. And if Liberals were committing criminal acts they should be charged. What happens in the case of, for example, if a cabinet minister like Dosanjh gets charged? Would he have to immediately resign his seat? Quote

Either the Conservatives or the Liberals, or possibly both of these right wing parties, might be commiting illegal acts here, and you attempt to discredit the New Democrats. What a croc! Quote
kimmy Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 When will the RCMP press charges against Grewal and the CPC leadership for illegal wiretapping? Perhaps the RCMP are not pursuing wiretapping charges against Grewal and the CPC because what Grewal did is not wiretapping and is not illegal. It's been pointed out to you time and again that this was not a wiretap, which is defined as monitoring of a conversation by a third party. It has also been claimed repeatedly here that it is legal to record a phone converstation that you're part of. While I'm sure there are more thorough treatments of the subject, this site was the first that popped up in my search:Call recording in Canada Canadian federal law requires one-party consent for telephone call recording. This call-recording software vendor makes the same claim. Call recording software site In Ontario, Canada, for instance, and potentially in your State or Province, it is only legal to tape a conversation when at least ONE of the people involved in the conversation is aware that it is being recorded. That sounds pretty clear to me. Can you provide anything to the contrary? -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
kimmy Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 So, do you suppose CTV was leaked some of the transcripts? Or was their article yesterday just based on the previous information or speculation? -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
