Le chef de l'Action démocratique, Mario Dumont, entamera lundi une tournée dans l'Ouest canadien.

Le but de cette tournée est d'expliquer sa position constitutionnelle nommée «autonomiste».

Après le chef bloquiste Gilles Duceppe, Mario Dumont entreprendra lundi une tournée de quatre jours en Alberta et en Colombie-Britannique pour expliquer sa position constitutionnelle. Le chef de l'Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) rencontrera notamment des gens d'affaires, des étudiants et des représentants des communautés francophones.

Dumont has a reputation for being right wing, something of a gadfly and/or a bright hope stuck between two opposites. He was head of the youth wing of the provincial Liberals and I've always thought of him as a Joe Clark-type political lifer/animal.

Will anybody notice? uh, probably not. Then again, people didn't really notice Stephane Dion's western swing either... I considered attending his talk at the U on speculation that there might be free donuts and coffee, but had to wash my hair that day.

If my shoddy French language skills have not led me astray, the article indicates that Mario is heading west in the belief that westerners are more likely to get with his message of decentralization than other Canadians. Probably he's right.

I think he is not a good politician.

His political vision is ok but he is really bad in selling is idea... This is a good sample, he has a constitutionnal position that could be great but he do not explain it to quebecers. He is the only party that want radical change in healthcare but he doesnt explain it.

I have the impression he is not working hard enough or he just dont want to be prime minister. For this reason, the adq won't make it with him but the problem is that at the same time he his the party so if he leave, the party won't make it either :/
