Cum Laude Posted September 5, 2017 Report Posted September 5, 2017 Is this the way of the future? One school in Ontario will experiment with this concept. I think that the public school system should just let students have 100% control of the system. https://beta.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/education/ontario-high-school-students-to-negotiate-final-grades-in-experiment/article36162866/?ref=http://www.theglobeandmail.com& Quote
herples Posted September 6, 2017 Report Posted September 6, 2017 Students shouldn't be able to negotiate any final grade. Same with rating teachers schools should scrap that as well. Quote
Moonlight Graham Posted September 6, 2017 Report Posted September 6, 2017 What's to negotiate? 4 months in a semester of doing work/assignments virtually every day to be graded plus final exam should be more than enough time & work to quantify a student's final grade. Now we're letting kids talk themselves into a better grade? Sounds stupid. Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.

Yes, but education is pretty much run by overpaid eggheads - superintendents, consultants, etc. Read the jargon in the article I cite below. Then read the comments of normal citizens. Those running the system are disconnected from reality. https://beta.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/education/ontario-to-target-math-report-cards-in-curriculum-revamp/article36180050/?ref=https://www.theglobeandmail.com&service=mobile Quote
