Big Guy Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 I follow most professional sports and find it interesting as to how those non-playing members of the team dress. Baseball managers and coaches wear the same uniforms as the players as if they are in the game and going to get their outfit dirty. Why? Professional hockey and basketball managers and coaches do not pretend that they are going to work up a sweat and wear shirt/tie outfits. Soccer managers seem to vary between track suits and suits. I guess it depends what you can afford. Football is a strange one. I remember a few coaches in the old days that wore suits, ties and hat but now it seems track suits are OK. Why does the dress code vary with the sport? Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
?Impact Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 Baseball coaches regularly go out into the field, in most other sports the coaches stay at the bench unless there is an injury. Perhaps it is the football bench being exposed to the elements that causes some to forgo the suit&tie. Don't forget about track & field, aquatics, etc. Quote
overthere Posted June 15, 2016 Report Posted June 15, 2016 In pro baseball, 'on the field' members of the team-anybody who does or may step onto the playing field except training staff- is required by the rules to wear a uniform that is the same as other team members.
