maplesyrup
House G.O.P. Acts to Protect Chief Bill to grab Canadian lumber tariffs introduced in U.S. Senate After reading these two articles I am beginning to think they are. Maybe they always have been. August1991
I don't know about Tom de Lay (but I note that Andre Ouellete is still on full pay). As to the lumber tariff, it is a tax that was paid to the US government by Americans importing Canadian softwood lumber. You tell me MS, who should get the money? Newfie Canadian
I disagree August. I believe the tariffs are paid by Canadian companies to the US Cutoms Service that ship the lumber across the border, not by the American companies that receive them. caesar
As to the lumber tariff, it is a tax that was paid to the US government by Americans importing Canadian softwood lumber. You tell me MS, who should get the money? It should be returned to the Canadian logging companies as NAFTA has found that the Canadian Lumber industries does NOT threaten US lumber Companies. The "Byrd Amendment" that would give the money to lumber companies is the USA has been found to be illegal by both WTO and NAFTA. That act would be unfairly subsidizing the USA lumber companies.
