maplesyrup Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 The Church that Forgot Christ Driving home this evening I listened to Michael Enright interview Jimmy Breslin, the US journalist and author - do any of you know about Jimmy? Anyway it was a fascinating interview about how sick, corrupt, and actually evil the Roman Catholic church is. Breslin said the current Pope has 4 things on his mind abortion, abortion, abortion, and Poland. What in the world do these old men with no or grey hair have to say to women, people who are married, etc. Breslin held out his harshest criticism for the Irish roman Catholics, he is one BTW, whom he said were a bunch of sheep. My opinion is that it is not only the Roman Catholic Church that has lost its way but all the organized Christian religion institutions. Do we need to abolish them completely before they do too much more destruction to our societies? Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. kimmy Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 What about Muslim institutions? I think they've lost their way too. Let's abolish them too. And Rastafarians have always kind of bugged me. We could ban them while we're at it. -kimmy Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
maplesyrup Posted November 9, 2004 Author Report Posted November 9, 2004 Do Quakers consider themsleves Christians? They are not too bad I think. kimmy Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 So, overall, which religions do you think should be banned, Syrup? -kimmy Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
maplesyrup Posted November 9, 2004 Author Report Posted November 9, 2004 Toute la gang, even my own! Religion should be treated like drugs, you have to into dark back alleys, out of sight, to discuss them. A good beginning would be to cancel the religious tax exemptions - that would tone down these nutbars quite a bit! maplesyrup Posted November 9, 2004 Author Report Posted November 9, 2004 we shall see the reign of witches pass over In response to the results of the Presidential election last week, I would like to share with you a quote from Thomas Jefferson. Although written in 1798, I feel his words speak perfectly to the strong sentiments of frustration and disappointment 48% of the country feel. "A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt......If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake." I agree with Barbra although she could have used a bit better terminology to make her point. Witches sound pretty good to me these days! August1991 Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 Anyway it was a fascinating interview about how sick, corrupt, and actually evil the Roman Catholic church is.Maple Syrup is either a defunct Montreal, Irish, English-speaking Catholic or else an upset Montreal, Scottish, English-speaking Presbyterian. In either case, Maple Syrup is a displaced Montréalais of undetermined religion, and suspected mother tongue.I would go with North American Catholic. Whether French-Canadian or Irish-American, it amounts to being a perceived perennial underdog. Like Michael Moore. The Spanisn and Italian and French Catholic elsewhere thankfully view life elsewise. playfullfellow Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 MS, you yell and shout and slam the alter when it comes to people being able to chose abortion or a gay life style yet you want slam the door shut on all religion because they do not agree with your views. Well I should say, Christian Religions. Though I may not agree with each view of the different religions, I do feel they are a very important part of the daily lives of many people. You start banning different religions, you open the door to all kinds of sensorship and chaos. Look at your idol, Russia, they tried for over 6 decades to wipe out religion, didn't work. In China, you can get imprissoned for being openly religious, they haven't been able to wipe it out. But I guess you follow your own religion set out by your heros like Stalin and Mao. Quote
maplesyrup Posted November 9, 2004 Author Report Posted November 9, 2004 Religion is OK when people are singing songs in a choir, etc. but that's about it. Most of its other actions end up being a very destructive force in society. For example to suggest Jesus, in today's world, would be against abortion, is one of the sick offshoots of today's religions. Quite frankly anyone who believe that stuff is a nutbar, and needs to be loooked up in a mental institution. Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know.
