Yep. 60 bucks a month. And that is nice.

That's a completely separate program. Income splitting gives full benefit to only 15% of families. That doesn't mean only 15% benefit.

And my point is when Harper or his people describe it they try to convince you they are not separate programs to try and offset the imbalance i the icoe splitting portion.

Both programs are a benefit. One benefits all, and one benefits many...the one that benefits many just happens to benefit 15% more than the rest, as with most programs

Sounds like you got a talking point direct from Harper. The one that benefits 15%, benefits...15%. Thats the families that fit into the program guidelines...i.e. have kids the right age and are in the tax bracket already discussed. Thats 15% of families in this country. And it will cost billions in lost tax revenue which could much better be spent on those who dont fit into that tax bracket and dot make 125k.

Anyone who has kids under 18 and has one spouse that makes more than the other benefits. How much they benefit is determined by the disparity in income.

No, I dont. I know how this program works. So does anyone who has bothered to study it.

As soon as there is any type of income disparity in a family with children under 18, the program is of a benefit. It's only of the most benefit when the disparity is very large. As usual, you have no idea what you're talking about.

You have very clearly demonstrated it is you who have no idea what you are talking about. The program will cost bout 2 billion a year, and benefit 15% of families. Perhaps math is not your strong suit, but trust me, that is a major cost for a very minor benefit, and to those who dont, or at least shouldnt need it. Even Harpers own previous finance minister, now deceased, Jim Flaherty, realized the faulty nature of the plan and advised against it.

That was before the $2000 cap.

Small potatoes. They just shuffled a few bucks from incoe splittig ad threw it into UCCB.

If by a few bucks you mean $720 per kid...yes. Wow, you must be wealthy if you can pretend that kind of money is nothing.

You do understand how much money that is to a poor person, I hope.

As I have already stated I dont mind at all that adjustment to that already existing program. But as you have pointed out, they are two separate programs. And the income splitting is new, hugely expensive, and will only benefit a small number of people who dont need it. Whenever Harper or a cabinet minister gets questioned on it they try run the two programs together to try and hide from the reality. Sounds like you have already fallen for it.

As I've already stated, I know two families who make far less than you claimed they needed to who have benefitted, and that's without looking. Without income splitting, one would have owed money. Instead, they got about $100 back.

I dont doubt your story. It really doesnt change much with regard to the fact it is a regressive, and very expensive program.

Check the actual facts. It benefits about 15% of families who have to already have a good income to qualify. And, it is extremely expensive.

If we disregard the lowest 30%, who pay NO income taxes, then it seems to me it benefits middle class folks, the ones paying taxes.

And fair. You forgot that part.

This program certainly does nothing to help those who need it. Just another appeal to Harpers base.

It's great how you instantly went from claiming that a tax break is taking money from others to wanting to take money from others and give it to those who did not work for it.

Huh...

Sure, play dumb, it was up thread a way, anyway, my tax refund this year was significantly higher thanks to the government allowing me to keep more of the money i worked for, which was quite helpful, and I expect that next year will be even better with income splitting, it's just too bad for me that my kids are almost too old to allow me to claim it. Im not wealthy, I make a good living and work lots of extra hours to do so, the real crux of this discussion is that you want other people to have the money i work for, which is fine, i want them to have some of it too, it's good for the country, the question is how much. Considering how much i work and how much I make im not living the high life, so getting a little more of what i work for to pay my bills and maybe help my kids with their education is a good thing. The idea that it's just rich people, or upper middle class people benefiting is UTTER NONSENSE.
