Rue Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Nearly all modern, Western Special Forces units (including IDF forces) trace a linage back to the British Special Air Service and Special Boat Service.....The SAS/SBS are the benchmark in which all others are judged and if one goes back into a modern force's (SEALS, JTF-2, GSG-9 etc) inception, members of the British SAS/SBS were present.......The initial IDF units were very much so modeled (and partially staffed by veterans) of the SAS/LRDG....... Absolutely. Quote
jbg Posted December 13, 2014 Author Report Posted December 13, 2014 The only country that will save citizens other than their own is Israel if they are Jewish. Otherwise there is a complex protocol designed not to embarass the sovereignty of a nation whose citizen is being rescued. ************** If for example Israel saved US citizens, it could embarass the US and make them look like they needed someone else's help. I understand. But it would be better if Western, pro-civilization countries stood together as a unit. This false neutrality looks and is bogus. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).

Whatever happened to the vaunted Delta group? I haven't heard of them doing anything in years. It's always the SEALs used, even when the target is nowhere near water. It's always the SEALs used, even when the target is nowhere near water. There are various "tiers" of groups, Delta is much smaller than the SEALs (and the idea is not to hear about their doings).....The Green Beret and Rangers (for the US Army), like Force Recon for the Marines, are in the more similar tier as the SEALs.......all groups are very much so active. Big Guy Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 I agree. It is like the PYTHON of the USA, SCORPION of Israel and URSUS of Russia. All secret and deadly units. Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

I can't speak to the later, but MACV-SOG Recondo Teams like Cobra, Anaconda and Python (etc) were not so much secretive, but their missions in Vietnam were very much so modeled after earlier British SAS "exploits" in Asia, Africa and South America.......and much like operations being undertaken presently.
