What are they doing out on the streets? That's always been a thin of mine too - people are always a victim of societal neglect, and never the neglect of those who should be directly involved in their lives.

LMAO. I suppose they are out on the streets because they are: attending a film, a concert, going to work, going out on a date. But I suppose you assume they are out there 'getting into trouble'.

Then their grandparents have no reason to worry, do they?

I thought racism was so rare as to be over. Now it's so commonplace people get used to it. Huh.

Racism happens. Racism happened even more to the previous generation. That generation has filled this one with preconceived notions based on negative experiences. Now even the things that aren't racist, are.

I see we're miles apart on what we might consider racist. I don't find instances of blak face where no one meant any harm to be racist.

Say what! What are you on about?

You will have to explain this one to me.

It's a pretty simple notion. Racism still exists today, but not in the ways that some seem to almost want it to.

Why would your grandparents worry if you're doing nothing wrong. No matter what colour you are, there's not much chance of anything going wrong.

And what ways are those?

That is exactly the point. What if they are doing nothing wrong.

Ok, for my continued sanity, I'm gonna put you on ignore from here on out because this stuff here is some super ignorant shit and it's obvious you have no interest in learning a damn thing about this subject.

Discrimination mostly. The amount of it is less than in the past. Raxist policies and laws have brcome a thing of history.

Then they have nothing to worry about.

Tell that to the tens of thousands of protestors in the U.S. And I'll be on a scaffold out of harms way while you do so.

You need to educate yourself on why African Americans are offended by this and why it is considered racist. I am utterly flabergasted as to your ignorance.

They start to look for it where it doesn't exist?

What about the African American parents who experience great anxiety while their children are out and about on the streets and have no form of relief until they return home.

I suppose the kids are out looking for racism....

Why would these African American parents experience great anxiety while their children are out? Are you assuming all African Americans live in crime ridden slums? And if so, don't you think White parents would feel anxiety when their kids were out in a high crime area?

As has been pointed out before, Black kids are in FAR, FAR, FAR, FAR, FAR, FAR, FAR more danger from Black men than they are, ever have been, or ever will be from the police.

That is precisely the point! They do not live in crime ridden slums! Do your own freakin research.

They are offended by it because it's become a trigger point for a caricature of the old negro which they don't want to be associated with, which was a paternalistic portrayal of the 'happy negro'. That's understandable. But I think his point is if someone dons blackface deliberately to offend that would be racist, but if they do it out of ignorance, with no malice intended, then it's just ignorance. There is a difference.

Right, you sound like the right wing ex mayor of NY who was laughed off the media stage.

Right. I understand you completely. They certainly do not do it out of ignorance. It is a long standing problem in Quebec.

I seriously doubt that when their kids are out of the house the primary worry of Black mothers (the fathers largely being absent) is that the police will shoot their lil tyke. They would have the same basic fears as White parents, that their kids might make poor decisions, hang out with the wrong people, maybe get involved in drugs or do something else stupid that gets them hurt. Drugs, alcohol, traffic and other violent youths are FAR more worrying than the police.

It's offensive and insensitive. Without intent, it isn't racist.
