Topaz Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Question, do you think its okay for a minister to have an "open cheque book" and spend how much as they see fit??? I just watched the senate finance committee hearings and a Liberals senator, in his 2x attempts to change the ACT that the Tories put into the 2007 mega budget bill. Under the changes, the minister, doesn't have to tell Parliament the amount or where it was spent ,even though that rule has been in power since government was formed. That mega budget was passed but the opposition didn't catch it and the senate didn't see it and it was only senator Banks reading over that budget found it and couldn't believe a government would do such a thing but then again we are talking about the Harper government. Thoughts? Quote
cybercoma Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Another fine example of Stephen Harper trying to bypass the checks and balances to the Prime Minister's power. Quote
Keepitsimple Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Shouldn't a new topic like this that is based on "facts" have some sort of link or cite to back up the claim? Quote Back to Basics
Hazel Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 Sorry, very sorry, for posting here, but I could not find a subject about Old Age Pensions in the forums where I could post my question. When I use the 'search' it connects me to the blogs to read. Can you help me please? Thanks Quote
