Earlier this week, a French newspaper reported that the Russian and American figure skating federations were in cahoots to fix the skating results. It was reported that a deal had been made where the Russian skaters would get the team gold and the Americans would elbow out the favoured Canadian ice dance team for the gold. This was discounted as ludicrous, unsubstantiated and defamatory.

Surprise, surprise. The Russian team won the team skating gold. The Americans just won the pairs dance gold edging out the Canadians.

Boy, what a coincidence!

At least the Amer/Russian judges were smart enought to put the fix in earlier than the final skate, then it seemed like nothing was afoot.

"Hey Natasha , we give them extra marks, make the gap wide enough not to overcome should the Amer's stumble, and voila, all eyes are off us"

Sounds good. Worked too !
