It's a good plan. It will show the NDP is organized and ready to govern. It sends people a clear message, laying the party's position out for everyone to see well ahead of time. We're going through a provincial election in NB and the provincial Liberals who are soundly ahead in the polls have yet to release their platform. The election is less than 2 weeks away, but people will still vote for them. It's baffling.

I agree........It’s very strategic, and I think designed to put pressure on Trudeau more so since the NDP and Tories won’t be vying for the same type of voter……..But it also gives the Liberals a whole year to steal the NDP’s platform.....This coupled with some muckraking, I’ve heard the NDP has come across, on Trudeau’s past……..If true, it would be fitting retribution for Jack’s massage, and could very well end Trudeau’s political career (and marriage)

The smartest part is that anything the Liberals come up with that's similar will be marketed by the NDP as the Liberals stealing their platform and not having any of their own ideas. It will be interesting to see how it works out for them because on the other hand Harper will have more time to run ad after ad telling the public how terrible the platform is. Keep in mind though that Harper is more interested in gunning for Trudeau because he's the one who's ahead in the polls. It's an interesting move by Mulcair either way.

I think it's a good idea for voters to press all the parties for the platforms early so we can truly get all the positions out on the table, have time to learn about them, and give the parties a chance to debate their respective positions. I'm kind of sick of this stupidity where platforms are hidden until the last possible moment, giving no one enough time to fully review them and pose questions to the candidates. Like I said, we're 2 weeks away from election day in NB, advanced polling will be open soon, and the NB Liberals don't even have their platform posted yet. IMO, it makes it look like they either 1) don't have a plan or 2) are disorganized and not ready for leadership.

why stop there? Why the sleaze tease? C'mon, in keeping with the guaranteed type of attack campaign your favoured Harper Conservatives will run... why stop with the disparaging innuendo that "you've heard"... that you conveniently attribute to the NDP "has come across"? C'mon... let it all out, hey sleazeMaster!

I would be very surprised if there are any Tory attacks directed at the NDP this early………That will be dependent upon the landscape come late next summer……..

Your point on being able to attack the Liberals once they release their policy, the portions that borrow upon the NDP platform that is, in my view is spot on. Also, there will be time to actually cost the NDP’s platform, before and after next year’s budget, and will either lend creditability or ridicule to their platform. This in my view, based on the rough draft from their policy convention, will be the Liberals Achilles heel with their platform……….unless of course they plan to introduce a myriad of taxes and/or going into the red.

Or its going to be unaffordable sunshine, that the media and NDP/PCs won’t be able to cost within two weeks……….

The Federal Tories platform, from what I’ve both seen and understand, will largely be revealed during the Budget early next year……This, coupled with the NDP’s platform being released, will pressure the Liberals to release theirs or face scrutiny by the media for months until they do……….At such point, the Liberals apparent momentum will revert back to reality, and they will be forced into the tap dance between “progressive” and center-right politics…………

……….hence why I’m of the utmost confidence the Tories will return as Government next Fall……….As to the fight for Stornoway, well that might be the interesting race to watch.

I wouldn't want to steal the NDP's thunder....... ;)

of course, you self-acknowledge cheerleading is your forte! Oh wait, you seem to have gone MIA on one of your cheerleading accounts! Is there a problem?

I’ve made my politics quite clear………..there should be no surprise there. ;)

just the kind of response I'd expect from you... saying nothing other than to reinfore your sleaze innuendo - well done! C'mon, you started it - get it out. Of course, it was actually a 2-fer as you did manage to also cover the "Layton massage". Again, why stop with just your sleaze tease?

oh certainly, most certainly. However, for the most part my impression was you stayed out of the gutter. Apparently, I've misjudged your limits. But again, you've gone most quiet in regards your F-35 cheerleading - wassup? Is there a problem?

There's a time and a place of course!!!

I stay out of the gutter so far as to keep the muck off my hands and clothes…………

…..The F-35, what of it?

oh... so you're a discriminating sleaseMaster? This was only the time for the teaseSleaze... for only your partial visit into the gutter.

yes! As I highlighted, you quite willingly deflected the supposed muck at the, as you declared, NDP discovering doorstep. Does being an indirectMuckRaker actually keep your hands/clothes... keep you... muckFree?

As I’ve alluded to, this apparent muck landed in the Orange tent……….I certainly wouldn’t libel anyone sans proof of course, but if proven true, both the Orange and Blue tents will certainly capitalize, and Trudeau will prove to be the Grits undoing……….Brison in 2019 perhaps?

you're so, so, so... discriminating!!! You temper your personal degree of sleazeGutterMuckRacking to a "proof threshold"! Imagine that. Your "ending career/marriage" comment was nothing more than another of your fantasyFlightsOfFancy! You know, just like that F-35FlightOfFancy!!!

We shall see.........As I said, if true, it could be the political “Hail Mary” the NDP are counting on……..I suppose we’ll see in the coming months, fore if the muck bomb does explode, we’ll all know it………just remember where you heard the muck first bubble!!! ;)

how fitting! You want to declare your firstRightsSleezeMuckRaking origination... but you don't have the temerity to actually step up and support your gutterInuendo... not even to provide the supposed source of your supposed sleeze! This has certainly been a most enlightening exchange on just how far you're prepared to go. Thanks for your engagement! Well done.

Waldo, why the concern……surely Trudeau’s handlers vetted him and looked in the back of the closet for that funny smell!!!! ;)

So where are people's thoughts on this today?

I think if you were a betting man, you would still bet on Harper and the Cons winning a plurality of seats, probably with a range of a strong minority to a slim majority.

But anything can happen. I still don't think Trudeau has found that "winning" issue for him... its becoming obvious his name and looks won't be enough (thank goodness). He is trying to change the conversation and spin on the niqab and C-51 debate to one focused on Charter rights, but his party still supporting C-51 really does not square well with that. Anytime he tries to take a strong stand, he ends up coming off more muddled. Classic Liberal strategy ;)

Libs need to get the hint, they will have to reinvent drastically to contend for power, not tack back to the old tired ways.

The wild card is Tom Mulcair. He is competent, has a fairly strong message tract and is as ruthless, if not more, than Harper. If progressives see their boy wonder failing badly in a campaign, they will flock back to the NDP, and then as a result blue libs will hold their noses at vote Harper again. If that happens, an even bigger majority will be in the cards B)
