Dollar Is Near Record Low; U.S. Rejects Call to Stem Volatility

Will the trend upward in the Canadian dolla continue, up in the price of gold and silver, or will the contrarian point of view take over the markets this abbreviated week?

And what about crude oil, it bounced up a bit near the end of last week?

Wow, some people are pessimistic about the US dolla's future!

US risks a downhill dollar disaster

Dollar Weakens as Russia Weighs Shifting Its Holdings to Euros

The euro rose to another record high against the dollar today after the Russian central bank said it might increase its euro holdings in an effort to insulate itself against further weakness in the American currency.

Like the United States Federal Reserve and its other counterparts, the Russian central bank holds huge reserves of dollars, euros and other currencies as a means of defending its own currency, the ruble, and smoothing out foreign-exchange market movements whenever necessary. Nearly two-thirds of its $113 billion in foreign-exchange and gold reserves are denominated in the dollar, which has reigned for decades as the premier global reserve currency.

I wonder if this is a bluff or are the Russians really going to divest itself of some of its US dolla. This looks like there is going to be attempt to up the ante, by putting pressure on the US. Will the US succumb? Can they realistically do anything? I have my doubts.

One of many things the US can do is raise interest rates.

I suspect that tey will take steps to shore up the dollar soon. There are interests more powerful than Bush who will not let him drive the economy, and the dollar, further down the road to ruin.

Canadian dolla breaks $US 0.85

and

POG breaks US$ 450. to $451.35. (This is a new 16 year high, and breaks through the psychological barrier of 450.)

Silver US$ 7.64

I am going to forecast now that the Canadian dollar is going to reach par with the US dollar.

Nothing succeeds like success, eh!.

As the Canadian dollar appreciates more and more investors will consider investing and holding Canadian dollars.

One thing about prices, usually when they fall, they fall a lot quicker than they rise. Has anyone ever done short selling in the stock market? /985

Dollar decline gathers pace, shaking global markets

The euro shot to a new all-time peak of 1.3329 dollars in early European trading Friday, hurdling the 1.33 threshold for the first time since its launch in January 1999.

Why would China announce it publically before it divested itself of some of its US dolla holdings?

So far no quote on moon gas!

Fears over recovery as Wal-Mart sales stall

Not a good omen. Maybe the international campaign of a buy-nothing day is slowly starting to have an impact.

Gold May Rise for Seventh Week on Dollar Decline, Survey Shows

Twenty-one of 45 traders, investors and analysts surveyed from Sydney to New York from Nov. 24 to Nov. 27 advised buying gold, which is sold in dollars. Thirteen recommended selling the precious metal, and eleven were neutral.

Gold in London topped $455 an ounce Nov. 26, the highest since June 1988, and rose 11 percent the past two months as the dollar fell 7.6 percent against the euro. The U.S. currency fell on speculation the government won't buy dollars to halt the slide. UBS AG, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Merrill Lynch & Co. and Deutsche Bank AG lowered their dollar forecasts last week.

I think the Price of Gold may hit US$ 500. an ounce.
