Topaz Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Some communities along the northern shore of Lake Erie is turning green from algae, and this is the worse that its has been since the cleanup of the lakes. Much of the source is from the state of Michigan, where the city of Detroit dumps its waste into a river that flows down to the lake and is responsible of over 80% of the problem. Many communities have had to issue a "no swimming allowed" and is saying don't eat the fish. Of course, farming and cottages and the heat doesn't help the problem but Canada and the US better get together and make stronger law about what can be deposited into the Great Lakes and then follow through with fines. http://www.lakeeriewaterkeeper.org/ Quote
