August1991 Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Yet in Québec, the subtext is different. In Québec, Gerald Tremblay and Michael Applebaum were both federalists. Jean Chretien and Brian Mulroney were federalists too.All corrupt.Les Québécois de service are corrupt. Quote
August1991 Posted June 21, 2013 Author Report Posted June 21, 2013 Yet, an outsider, Stephen Harper, seems to have provoked this investigation through the federal tax service. (Radio-Canada used information, after 2008, from Revenue-Canada to make its stories.) Quote

guyser Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 I think Im going to take this as a new rule. If someone says theyll clean it up...we ( or rather me) will know they are lying and will make it dirtier. Kind of ike the Gay conversion charity down south.....it shut down and the one who ran it came out of the closet. Holy crap...all lying thieves apparently Quote
August1991 Posted June 21, 2013 Author Report Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) Second mayor to go in a 12 month span. And this guy said he would clean things up! Can we stop believing these people now? While no one in French Canada (or the MSM in English Canada) will admit it, Stephen Harper started/provoked this investigation in Quebec, --- And Harper'll get no seats in Quebec despite his efforts. While making fun of corrupted mayors is fair game, let's not forget who's doing the corrupting ... organized crime. This isn't just about a few politicians and bureaucrats on the take: It's about systematic siphoning of taxpayers' money into the hands of organized crime. And it's not just happening in Quebec. It's everywhere ... but so far the rest of the country doesn't have the courage to address it. Quote

August1991 Posted July 2, 2013 Author Report Posted July 2, 2013 (edited) The worst politicians are the ones that want to get into politics.René Lévesque wanted to get into politics, and he was clean. As I noted above, the subtext of this scandal is that it is federalism that corrupts Quebec politics. By that, I mean (to state this positively or politely to an English audience) that federalist politicians in Quebec (and outside) have always been prepared to do deals - and sycophants/courtiers have always taken advantage of this preparedness to deal. For example, while Trudeau himself was clean, he was prepared to do deals that Lévesque would have refused. (I have always thought that Trudeau was more of a federalist than a democrat and Lévesque was more of a democrat than a sovereignist.) The irony is that Harper uncovered the rock that exposed this Quebec, federalist cesspool. (And trust me, the rock is exposing federalists alone.) But in Quebec, Harper will get no seats or votes for his efforts, this exposure. Maybe Harper's frustration with such a situation explains why he approved a deal to payoff a senator with a $90,000 personal cheque. (If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.) ----- Steve Jobs described Death as the ultimate change-agent. But some people die too soon. I wish René Lévesque were around today to explain his view of Harper and the Charbonneau Commission. Edited July 2, 2013 by August1991 Quote
