Pliny Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 Was the refusal by Kathleen Sibelius to put Sarah Murnaghan an example of a State "Death Panel" decision. She coldly said, "Some people live and some people die." Thanks to Judge Michael Baylson and a lot of appealing by her parents the decision was reversed. She was placed on the adult waiting list and received a transplant today. Have the Liberals lost their ssense of compassion. Maybe Sarah was having too many tea parties at the hospital. Anyway let's hope all goes well. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57588923/lung-transplant-under-way-for-10-year-old-who-sued-to-get-on-adult-waiting-list/ Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
sharkman Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 No, I think it's obvious that Sarah was somehow connected to a group that had "patriot" or "tea party" in their name, perhaps her family received a donation from one of them. Quote
The_Squid Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Liberals? Tea party connections? Obama death panels? Lol. Ok. Last week, Sarah was added to the adult lung transplant list following a ruling from a federal judge Michael Baylson that suspended rules that required patients on the adult transplant list to be ages 12 and older. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57588923/lung-transplant-under-way-for-10-year-old-who-sued-to-get-on-adult-waiting-list/ Age discrimination maybe? Or perhaps it's based on the medical evidence. Now, instead of being based on medical evidence, it's based on emotions of a judge. The judge's ruling set off an ethical debate among doctors who worried about the precedent being set of a legal-driven exception that could trump evidence-based transplant guidelines. Lung transplants already have a high failure rate -- 50 percent within five years -- and since lungs are in short supply, some bioethicists argued transplants should be given to people who have the best chance of success. And since pediatric lungs are less well-studied, there may be more medical certainty of the transplants taking in adults. Quote

Decisions regarding life and death should be void of senseless considerations of compassion and we need the cold hand of science to make laws so that politicians don't need to make decisions and look like heartless death panel members. Science and the law make it a black and white issue. Sarah Murnaghan must die. And of course Mulcair doesn't have to stop for RCMP cruisers...there is no law that says the leader of the NDP must do so. Laws are for the "little people" - Right? Ah, yes! The IRS is monitoring Obamacare. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
