Former Premier Ralph Klein is dead at 70:

Ralph Klein, the hugely popular — though often controversial — man known
as "King Ralph," or just plain Ralph, led Alberta's long-ruling
Progressive Conservative Party from 1992 to 2006 and presided over four
consecutive majority governments. The former premier, who died Friday in
a Calgary-area long-term care facility, was 70. He had been battling a
form of dementia and emphysema in recent years.

I left Alberta in 1991 just before the Klein dynasty started so watched enviously from the side lines while I suffered the inadequacies of Vander Zalm, Harcourt and the buffoonery of Glen Clark. Campbell was at least tolerable for the most part.

So long Ralph.

I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.

I thought I saw him once coming back from Mexico on a westjet flight, he was eager to be the first one through the gate onto the tarmack, but I beat him to it. Probably was just someone that looked like him though. None the less, really great that someone was committted to slaying the public debt, there needs to be more managers like him.

Its sort of unfortunate the days of Alberta surpluses are gone, and the province has gone back in debt.
