Our tax dollars at work…….combating Zombies?

Your right , Zombies is not the important part, what we should be concerned with is WHY we are planning at all for any National level problem, we we as a nation have already proven we have a major issue with localized problems. Such as Ice storm, etc...All one has to study is the US military response to Katrina to know anything on a national level would be way out of our government abilities to respond...

A working group in BC had a plan for a major earth quake in Vancover BC, DND and others involved in the plan said the majority of responders and equipment would have to come from the US....As this size of event would quickly overwhelm our National resources...That was a all hands on deck event....and just one city...

It would be nice to think that our government would come in riding on a white horse to save the day...But a plan is only as good as the people + equipment that carry it out....But lets be realistic...I think in this type of event by the time the government decided what to do, where to send it's limited resouces, and the time to move them....this whole thing would be over, and the glue that holds us together would be long gone....Meaning until order could be restored it would be like the wild west....that would have to be done on a city by city basis....and take more resources than we have...more than the US military has....Zombies, WMD, or any event for that matter....is way out of our league.

You bet they did……….DND, RCMP, 39 CBG, the Provincial Emergency Program via the BC Ministry of Justice, all were consigned with the fact that anything West of Abbotsford would be screwed………….The irony or ironies is that most of the offices and headquarters of said organizations are located in ancient buildings that would surely be flattened and the remnants of the Provincial Government and Federal agencies would be running the show aboard one of the Destroyers or Frigates in Esquimalt Harbour………….At a bare minimum, Land Force Western Areas initial response wouldn’t be rolling over the Rockies for 72+ hours, and even then, far too little.
Funny that PEP even mentions Zombies on their site:
And the Government of Canada, like the American CDC, baseline emergency kit doesn't include mention of personal protection:
As they say about the land of the blind.......

I actually do not mind that this exchange happened.

Certainly, it was in jest, but it's a real and valid emergency planning tool (the zombie apocalypse, that is).

EmergencyInfoBC actually uses Zombie Awareness Week as a tactic to encourage British Columbians to better prepare themselves for emergencies and natural disasters. Zombie invasions or apocalypses are portrayed in popular media as the pinnacle of disasters, resulting in the massive disruption of social services, utilities, government, and authority, and if you're prepared for that, you're prepared for anything.

I remember watching this one on beta for the first time tremors is such a good flick.

With all this gmo stuff floating around who knows what could happen.

I can fully appreciate that, as such, Government should be forthwith in disclosing their “plans” for dealing with an uncooperative population, a population that the State could be required to detain (and possibly kill) against their collective wills, with the dissolving of habeas corpus for all Canadians……………..

IOW, what are the prerequisites for a Canadian Federal Government (of any political stripe) to implement the son of the War Measures Act, the Emergencies Act…………..What event constitutes the Zombie Apocalypse and in turn the surrendering of our civil liberties?

http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/E-4.5/page-1.html

By design, said law leaves quite a bit of wiggle room……………….So when does SARS or a harsh Flu season allow Government to cross the threshold?

As we discussed many times, our household could teach a thing or two to Burt and Heather Gummer biggrin.png
