bush_cheney2004 Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 bush_cheney2004, do you know anything about academic appointments? Yes...do you know anything about cloaking devices ? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
jbg Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Yes...but Mr. Ignatieff is consistent and congruent with respect to the United States (for the most part), unlike the the usual America bashers from Canada who still cross the border for personal interests and gain.I guess Pierre Trudeau, who attended Harvard Law School, would be in the latter category. bush_cheney2004 Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 I guess Pierre Trudeau, who attended Harvard Law School, would be in the latter category. Trudeau not only continued the long history of anti-Americanism in Canada, but took it to new levels for political and personal gain. It is now a permanent fixture in Canadian (mostly liberal) campaign rhetoric as you and others have described before. "We don't want American style _______ !!" ...but many still want to shop, winter, and get educated in the U.S. Fickle bunch are these...... Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

cybercoma Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 You're the one that compared to people saying, "We don't want American-style _______!" with shopping in the US. Fill in the blank for me. What are you comparing to US shopping? Quote

Yeah we'll come down to gas up once in a while, or maybe a little Florida sun in the winter. Education, not so much. On Guard for Thee Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Speaks well for U.S.-style higher education. No it doesn't. It actually speaks the opposite. In general US public education seems to fail as badly as their private health care, unless you happen to have a boatload of money and then things are fine. Do you have a boatload of money? Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Mr. Ignatieff likes the U.S. education system. He likes to give speeches at U.S colleges and universities and use his American cloaking device. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

On Guard for Thee Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Do you think it's easier to succeed in Canada than the U.S.? Obviously the US has a much higher population density and therefore a bigger market which provides opportunities. Studies do show that, not unlike healthcare, Americans pay a lot for their public education system but have relatively poor outcomes. I guess it depends on your definition of "succeed" Quote

If you want to represent people, you must surely want to live among them. ---- Unlike Michael Ignatieff, Marc Garneau and Justin Trudeau will likely stay in Canada. Unfortunately, the federal Liberal Party now has a reputation of choosing a leader who is "just visiting". Michael Ignatieff has damaged the brand name. Wonder if we will see the same type of crap written about Kevin "I live in Boston" O'Leary? Quote If a believer demands that I, as a non-believer, observe his taboos in the public domain, he is not asking for my respect but for my submission. And that is incompatible with a secular democracy.
