Could you do the same for yourself? Nope.

Lighten up. I was just throwing her words back at her. rolleyes.gif

AW, you mentioned on this thread that you've never had a dog. I have, all my life. Most of friends have dogs too. The average dog knows about 20-30 words. Dogs can be taught to do incredible things, I know because I love learning about all the things they can do.

100+ words is not average for a dog, it's exceptional. You believing that it would be a law is pretty gullible.

Conceivable, sure.

Believable... well, sorry but it's funny.

20-30 words? Please. I know enough people with dogs to know that most know more words than that. Perhaps American dogs are just smarter than Canadian dogs and I was giving them too much credit. wink.png

What's funny is the reason so many people took this spoof seriously. :)

Gotcha it's a Canadian thing.

My dog has an incredible vocabulary. He can also read Yahoo news critically and recognize what must be fake.

Wow! That doesn't sound like a Canadian dog. You sure he's not American?

No. A puppy can learn over 30 words in a couple of weeks with training and copious treats. 100 words is nothing for a trained adult dog. What would be exceptional would be one that DOESN'T know at least 100.

You're completely missing the point when you keep referring to what trained* dogs can do Bryan.

Just because a dog can be trained to do something it's still very gullible for someone to believe that a law would require every dog owner in the city to train their dog to that extent.

But mightn't it make it harder to learn so many if confused by language? For example if you have to say "sit" in both languages the dog may be totally disoriented.

Also ascertaining in what language it's communicating with other dogs may be difficult.

My dog is actually a forum member. He was banned for insulting Jack Layton

This is That is satirical news, but how it ended up on Yahoo! News is anybody's guess.

yahoo from time to time runs false news and should not be considered a trusted source
