Fletch 27 Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 http://ca.news.yahoo.com/native-chiefs-earn-more-pm-tax-watchdog.html The data shows that 222 aboriginal chiefs and counselors from First Nations communities across Canada earn more money than their provincial premiers, and 82 make more than the prime minister. "There's a pretty atrocious example coming from [the] Maritimes, $978,000 tax-free … for someone off-reserve," said Craig. "That's for a community of about 304 people. "It's disgusting this is going on in Canada." The real reson for the Uproar of the Cheifs as of late is in the above. The Taxpayers federation was recently granted access after a year or requests.. NDP comments: NDP aboriginal affairs critic Jean Crowder said the Conservative transparency bill calls for more information than is required by other levels of government and would need amendments before she supports it. The Chiefs do not care about the "Navigable waters act".... They simple want to remain sheltered from any and all financial disclosure to the public... Quote

Fletch 27 Posted December 11, 2012 Author Report Posted December 11, 2012 How do YOU know they don't care about ALL waterway in Canada? Simple... NO-WHERE in Theresa Spences comments during her hunger Strike does she mention the Navicable Waters Act. NO WHERE! She does say, and i quote: “It’s time for the Prime Minister to honour it and respect our leaders" - See wants respect "“As we speak, our people are suffering because of the situation that’s made by the government". With a chief making 978,000 in a town of 304.. ya, Its about sheltering finances from the rest of the band and keeping the money flowing Quote

Topaz Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 I also saw here speech and she said that she wants a meeting with Harper and the Queen about the treaties and she indicated that it appeared that the government is working to take away land from them that is in the treaties with Britain and that is why the queesn was included , which would probably be the GG. Fletch 27 Posted December 11, 2012 Author Report Posted December 11, 2012 Im well aware... Im also aware of the $978,000 Paid to a Cheif.. I for one, am A-OK with any and all amendments being made to the Indian Act via bill C-45. The miscairage of justice to the Indian population has gone on far too long... Please be aware that i can cite many Indians who are FOR the changes... They do not all believe the Chiefs. Quote

Chief Theresa Spence was paid $69,575 in salary and honorariums in 2010-2011, and had $1,798 in travel expenses for a total of about $71,000." I'm sure the federal governme t has some high earners tame for instance in ontario http://www.fin.gov.o...1/otherp11.html Ontario Institute for Cancer Research HUDSON THOMAS President & Chief Scientific Officer $529,132.02 $441.45 the pm with percs added in likely costs taxpayers 10's of millions the pmo probably eats up 10 million alone.those are the people that the pm forces taxpayers to pay to do his job that allows the pm to do things that arn;t i their job description like do cameos in cbc tv shows amd skip work to watch hockey and sign undemocratic trade deals. is canada thay dry for talent. they hire a poster boy amd 10 staff to do the job the pm once did. cut the political staff as a a starter and let the om do their own job rather than campaigning and pr so people don't realize how much he sucks Edited December 23, 2012 by login Quote

Her band's financial statements are already posted back to 2005. Also the Federal Court reviewed everything and determined that there was no justification for Harper placing them under 3rd party management. You may be right that some chiefs need to be exposed and their Band members would likely agree ... but you're picking on the wrong one. Argus Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 And a lot less than a municipal councillor. Theresa Spence's pay is not the issue here. No, and it wasn't raised as an issue. What was raised as an issue were small band chiefs making more than Harper. Argus Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 Does the avg public service employee play the part of mayor, premier, and prime minister over a jurisdiction? She is neither the premier nor the prime minister nor has she those responsibilities. If she is mayor she's mayor of a town of 1500. Aren't a lot of such positions basically part-time and non-paid in Canada? Smallc Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 And a lot less than a municipal councillor. Absolutely incorrect. There is no municipal councillor anywhere in a municipality with 2000 people making anywhere close to that amount of money. Quote
