I'm just pointing out that the investors groups in question have never been reported boycotting those oil-sources as investments.

Only Alberta.

Do they have investments in those places to begin with?

That's a good question! Consider, if they never invested in oil stocks then why would they be looking at oilsands stocks anyway?

So if they have no intention of investing in the Alberta industry, then their public statement is just propaganda.

If they actually HAVE been investing in oil stocks from Islamist countries all these years, then they are hypocrites!

The point you're missing, though, is that they aren't taking issue with the environmental impact for the sake of the environment, but for the sake of the "long-term viability of the oilsands as an investment." It's a cold-blooded capitalist calculation you should be happy with.

Well, everything I have seen in the MSM says that the oilsands are good for about 300 years. How long do they NEED to be viable?

However, who says the oil sourced from those Islamist countries is all that green?

As for me being happy with "...a cold-blooded capitalist calculation you should be happy with.", why should I be happy? Are you saying that I am a cold hearted capitalist? Why would you think that? What evidence do you have to support that opinion of me?

If you look back in this thread, I'm the one not comfortable with blood in my gasoline! From what I've seen these past few decades, I'm all alone in a crowd!

Are you suggesting I should just shut up, close my eyes and not let it bother me? I'm the guy who reads the label when he buys a can of beans, because I care about what country it came from, if you remember!

You miss the keyword Bill ...

It's being questioned by large investors whether the oil sands are viable as investments for Canadians.

You can't convince them it's a good risk by arguing with us. :)

Hey, these are the same investors who owned the Toronto Maple Leafs this past decade or more.

What the hell do they know?

Boycott Alberta?

That's seriously NOT the idea.

But real return on investment v liability risk has to be ... clarified.

Money runs the world not squishy socialists. That's just the way it is. If it will make Bay St. happy the government will do it. This goes for any government that Canada would have. Don't be naive and think that the NDP would lead this country very differently then Harper is.

The leaders of this country have regular meetings with the Bilderberg group. They are one s who run this country. The PM is just their PR man.

Ah ... so the investment money doesn't matter to you ...

And you speak for whom?

Bill?

Wild Bill ...?

Nothing more to say?

Still think the oil sands companies should just tell the pension funds to take their investment money elsewhere ... or just ... I don't know ... pound sand?

You live in Ontario so I don't think you speak for oil sands companies ...

They do, btw, seem interested in the investment money.

They're a little more business savvy than you.

At least they have the sense to say they're interested ...

"Companies certainly want to push themselves," he said. "We're just developing the process that we would use to engage and set our goals ... The companies have committed to set a goal."

Ah yes ... a process to plan to make a plan ...
