Mr.Canada Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Anger over 'The Innocence of Muslims', an American-produced film which insults the Prophet Mohammad and demeans Muslims, according to protesters, remains available to watch on the website YouTube, a subsidiary of Google. Well this is getting just silly. 10,000 Muslims protested in London demanding that the "hateful and offensive" video be taken down. "This is not freedom of expression, there is a limit for that. This insult of the Prophet will not be allowed. This is absurd. By that token anyone who is insulting Jesus is also bad. This happens nearly everyday but no one cares. "Organisations like Google are key players and have to take responsibility for civility. You can't just say it doesn't matter that it's freedom of speech. It's anarchy." SourceThis video doesn't break any rules and guidelines set up by You Tube or Google video yet these Muslims would like to make any insult to Mohammed illegal like it is under Sharia Law. Outrageous. The video is in bad taste of course but isn't and shouldn't be illegal. We are governed by reason and science and not by religious dogma as the left constantly likes to remind us. We are governed by reason and science and not by religious dogma as the left constantly likes to remind us. So what? They are peacefully demonstrating, and thats fine even if what they want is wrong. Do you go on the same rants about abortion protests? Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
jacee Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Certainly they have the right to protest, but google isn't and cannot be the arbiter of what's acceptable/blasphemous for each of the world's religions. In fact, I doubt there'd even be agreement about that within each religion either. Edited October 15, 2012 by jacee Quote
Guest Peeves Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 I would first like to say that 'SOME' Muslims are demanding concessions contrary to our democracies, and SOME Muslims should simply shut up. Our customs and laws and DEMOCRATIC freedoms are not subject to SOME Muslims being offended over nonsensical issues as Mohammad pictured or a book of anachronistic draconian laws being 'defiled' burned or spit on. Actually they don't even know their own 'religion' only what some extremist imam says it is. It's time the authorities cracked down on ANY extremist that is breaking the law. EVEN the law that prohibits a demonstration WITHOUT a permit! Stop this nonsense by addressing it in every and any offense. Don't stand by while extremists of any stripe demand that WE make concessions on our freedoms. Many of these demonstrations require a permit. Many demonstrations break that law or requirement. It's well past time to enforce that law. Quote

"Cracking down" cuts both ways, cracks down on us all. As for the permit to protest ... If that's your worst issue there isn't really a problem. Permit? ... none needed. I own a 1/34millionth share in the public land in Canada, and it travels with me under my feet. We all HAVE the right to protest. We doneed no stinkin permit. Eta ... Don't stand by ... ???? Are you inciting vigilantes to action? What actions would you recommend? Edited October 15, 2012 by jacee Quote
