jbg
I don't see how these people are "heroic", as suggested in the title to this thread. They seem sick and evil to me.Despite my sarcasm and your recent and new-found personal nastiness (we were once able to disagree civilly) I'm glad we agree on this issue. BubberMiley
Personal nastiness? I'm as delightful as always. But no, we disagree. I don't think they're heroes at all.

In the real world I think we agree. They're gutless cowards and murderers.

Guest
I'm curious, HJ. What is it about opinions on the excesses of fundamentalist muslims that bother you? Do you disagree with them? Do you think we should just keep quiet about them? Do you think someone is just making them up? Are you of the opinion that shooting schoolgirls for going to school is a cultural thing, and we should not judge? They do have some odd religious customs, those Afghanis. The child marriage ban and the idea of protecting female rape victims from prosecution were particularly heated subjects in Saturday’s parliamentary debate, said Nasirullah Sadiqizada Neli, a conservative lawmaker from Daykundi province. Neli suggested that removing the custom — common in Afghanistan — of prosecuting raped women for adultery would lead to social chaos, with women freely engaging in extramarital sex safe in the knowledge they could claim rape if caught. Another lawmaker, Mandavi Abdul Rahmani of Barlkh province, also opposed the law’s rape provision. “Adultery itself is a crime in Islam, whether it is by force or not,” Rahmani said.
