Good move for the Liberals or does this expose a tradition of lying? I mean, he did say "I will not run for the leadership of the Liberals". Please! Discuss!

The only one with a tradition of lying I see is the OP.

I knew yesterday after watching the QP, when Harper stood up and said that Rae was corrupt with power because word was he was going to running for leadership after saying he wouldn't. So now, Rae can say he's NOT corrupt with power but will Harper stand and say he's not, since the beliefs he had as MP, are going against himself now he's PM.

Harper jumped the gun, yes indeed.

Well, its Pretty darn clean that Steve Harpers words yesterday set Bob Rae on the straight and narrow! It too Steve Harper to convince this schmuck that breaking the rules isn't good for Canada. Good for Steve Harper in showing the errors in lying and decieving the Canadain populace..

Holy moly.

This isn't quite unprecedented, but it's more absurd than is usual.

If I understand you correctly, Steve Harper's words were clean but too Steve Harper in that they showed the errors in lying and decieving the Canadains by saying Bob Rae was running for the leadership when he wasn't.

Exactly! He wouldn't provide a clear, decisive "no, I will not run".... Surprising until Steve Harper showed Bob that his stalling and lack off judgement making abilities were scaring Canadians! You think its a "coincidence"??? He "makes up his mind" less than 24 hours after Steve Harpers lashing?

Steve Harper is to be thanks by the likes of Justin Tru-dough and the other Liberals...

Exactly!

I'm impressed that you would take off your rabidly partisan hat and criticize Harper for lying about Rae seeking the leadership. Way to go!

I'm willing to bet that Rae put out their last week that he would be running to see what people thought. He received a lot of backlash and decided it was not smart to run.

I think this is good for the potential candidates outside of the current caucus. I think many would agree that Nycole Turmel's weak performance as interim leader likely affected Brian Topp's chances, Tom Mulcair was saying that he was going to be in the House on the Monday after the convention to fight Stephen Harper. I think some Liberal members would be less worried about choosing an outsider knowing that they're well led in the House.

I will say you are right the Liberals need to go outside their current MPs because they weak weak weak.

Don't really agree with you there, many just haven't had the platform to showcase themselves. They may end up not being strong but like I've said before Nathan Cullen was in my opinion, and many others, the best performer in debates despite not being well known. There was few MPs I was not aware of, particularly with the Liberals and NDP, before the 2011 election and I had never heard of Cullen before the rumors of a potential run to replace Layton.

Fletch, we have rules around names on this forum, perhaps you could take a moment to look them up and stop the childish Tru-dough stuff. Thx.

Bobby Rea has decided to run for Liberal leader and the Libs have agreed to change the rules to suit him!.. Bob Rae... Best of luck. He is starting off on the first day with only breaking one promise! Wayyy to go.. Only one broken promise in a day! Good move for the Liberals or does this expose a tradition of lying?
