stopstaaron Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) I think the Conservatives will be watching this closely to see how the UK acts They are expecting some strong push back http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/9179087/Internet-activity-to-be-monitored-under-new-laws.html Ministers are preparing a major expansion of the Government's powers to monitor the email exchanges and website visits of every person in the UK, it was reported today. Under legislation expected in next month's Queen's Speech, internet companies will be instructed to install hardware enabling GCHQ – the Government's electronic "listening" agency – to examine "on demand" any phone call made, text message and email sent, and website accessed in "real time", The Sunday Times reported. A previous attempt to introduce a similar law was abandoned by the former Labour government in 2006 in the face of fierce opposition. However ministers believe it is essential that the police and security services have access to such communications data in order to tackle terrorism and protect the public. Although GCHQ would not be able to access the content of such communications without a warrant, the legislation would enable it to trace people individuals or groups are in contact with, and how often and for how long they are in communication. The Home Office confirmed that ministers were intending to legislate "as soon as parliamentary time allows". Edited April 1, 2012 by stopstaaron Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. eyeball Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 I think the best way to respond to this is for everyone who's opposed to run searches for bomb making materials and chat about ways to invade the secrecy of the people who would invade our privacy. The only thing wrong with that .. is if you get together as a group and plan something as serious as this a lot of people would chicken out and you might be the only one whom followed through.. then you're screwed Quote Don't ban me bro. Good one, eyeball! That way, if there are any terrorists making bombs they would get your help! Guest Manny Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 We need to really question what is being done for our "protection" against terrorism. Who are the real terrorists? Who is constantly inciting fear and terror in the public, and why. Quote

The amount of places you see them in now is increasing all the time. Quote

As opposed to the oxygen our stupid governments supply them with? Oh well, I imagine the state is flooded with so much data already that it's chance of making any sense out of more are slim to none - adding to the heap would just be a wasted effort. Actually if you really wanted to rattle the state you'd go off the grid and back to doing everything with paper. The blank spots in the data stream should be even scarier. Resistance may be futile but that doesn't mean we still can't have some fun with it. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
