cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 (edited) Ashton offers no endorsement. Singh endorses Mulcair. Dewar drops out with no endorsement as well. Edited March 24, 2012 by cybercoma Quote
cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 Voter turnout on the first ballot was incredibly low. Roughly 50% of the membership. Quote
capricorn Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Ashton offers no endorsement. Singh endorses Mulcair. Dewar drops out with no endorsement as well. Nash will be eliminated on the second ballot. I think she'll go to Topp. Therefore it goes to a third ballot. I still think Mulcair will take it. cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 I'm not sure, but rumour has it Elections Canada has been notified about the low voter turnout. Seems there were some robocalls to the hotel rooms last night. Quote
cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 Pat Martin has endorsed Mulcair as well. Olivia Chow without saying so, seems to be supporting Topp. Quote

cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 did they have to go to the convention to vote or could they do it online Online in advance, by mail in advance, or at the convention. They can also vote online during the convention. Quote
capricorn Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 How long will 2nd ballot take CBC says 90 minutes. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 It looks like a large number of Dewar supporters are heading towards Peggy Nash's camp, although he has not endorsed anyone and he released his delegates to vote as they wish. Voting starts at 11am EST for the second ballot. Results will be 60-90 mins later. Quote
j44 Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Mulcair benefits even if others dont endorse him as long as they don't endorse Topp (or Cullen). Quote

Now she can move her and his supporters though. Quote
cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 I feel Cullen will endorse Mulcair and Nash will endorse Topp. That's if they give endorsements. However, it seems they're not readily giving endorsements. Quote
cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 One thing to keep in mind, however, is that most votes have already happened in advance. This kind of movement is not going to have much effect. Quote

cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 I'm wondering if Cullen would endorse or stay in and try to win since he did better than expected. What I think would be interesting is if Cullen moves into second and Topp has to make a decision. Who does Topp choose between Cullen and Mulcair? Quote
madmax Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 dont underestimate the cullen vote Cullen is a great guy. Its good to have ideas.. too bad his main plank is a turkey. That will get him attention and votes.. but no growth.. not unless he drops his main campaign plank. Quote
j44 Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Linda Duncan (from Dewar's camp) is now backing Mulcair as well And she is one of the more left wing MPs isn't she? What I think would be interesting is if Cullen moves into second and Topp has to make a decision. Who does Topp choose between Cullen and Mulcair? That would be interesting. My gut says Topp would go to Cullen. Interesting that people are either endorsing Mulcair or saying that aren't endorsing. Do They see him as inevitable and don't war to split the party more? And stay in his good graces? Quote
madmax Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Pat Martin has endorsed Mulcair as well. Olivia Chow without saying so, seems to be supporting Topp. Ironic that Pat Martin Said he wanted a Candidate that talked about cooperation with the Liberals.. Vintage Pat Martin.. Quote
cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 (edited) Pat Martin makes an excellent point amongst all of this talk of low voter turnout. Over 50,000 votes were cast on the first ballot. That is the most votes every cast for a party leader in the country's history. Moreover, there's over 4000 people at the convention, which is double the size of their last convention in 2003. It's a different game when your entire membership votes for the party leader. Fact check: Pat Martin was wrong. The Conservative leadership nomination had over 67,000 votes for Stephen Harper alone on the first ballot. Edited March 24, 2012 by cybercoma Quote
cybercoma Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 It's interesting seeing people like Warren Kinsella and Naomi Klein bashing Mulcair on Twitter between ballots. Anything that pisses Naomi Klein works for me. Quote
