eyeball Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Coastguard will be busy today.... I think they probably have it pretty easy on days like this. It's when it's nice out and people are actually able to get out on the water that they're busy. As it was this morning I could barely get down to the boat given how the dock was rocking and rolling so badly. It'll probably go out after it starts blowing from the west and the trees that got loosened up in the southeaster fall the other way. Good point.... hopefully no bigger ships that are out in this will have issues... tugs, etc. I don't think this level of wind is supposed to last for very long, so hopefully there won't be too much damage to docks, etc... We seem to weather that sort of damage out on the west coast of the Island where we're pretty much built for it in most places. The big blow that did all the damage in Stanley Park a few years ago knocked our power out for 8 days or something. Miles of power lines were down and BC Hydro seemed to go beyond just fixing things, it upgraded them too. The power seems to go out more when the winds knock something out on the other side of the Island now but even then I think we get shifted to the little run-of-river generating stations out our way and...the power's still on...
