Cartman Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Former PM Kim C. said that she was disturbed by the lack of women candidates in the last election. She described how she could accept policy and leadership criticism while PM, but really hated the way that she was criticized about her earings, clothes etc. Considering that there seems to exist important women's issues, why are they not running? Should people care about this issue? Please, please oh please do not refer to Anne M though. I really can't stand her.  Quote You will respect my authoritah!!
maplesyrup Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 The House of Commons poorly reflects our society, whether it be in relation to sex, race, income, and/or occupations. It is basically a white, wealthy, male lawyer's club. Perhaps Elections Canada will have the stats. Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. Bro Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 There are some women politicians I can really throw my support behind.Belinda S.,Diane A.,to name a few. Two who I can't even listen to without becoming ,lets say extremely annoyed are ex liberal Shiela, and Anne M., they are both very abrasive and speak the party line, which doesn't show any of their intelligence,if for sure they have any. August1991 Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Like working in underground mines, or trading on the stock market, being a politician is a risky job. Women, on average, dislike risk more than men do. Women and men should have equal rights but what they do with those rights should be their own choice. A related question is why there are no or few women posting on political discussion forums. Quote
maplesyrup Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 A related question is why there are no or few women posting on political discussion forums. Why would women want to subject themselves to what goes on at political discussion forums? Isn't it quite obvious? maplesyrup Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 21.1 percent of the Country's MPs are female. Is this stat for our recently elected H of C?
