Oleg Bach Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Considering how frail he looks and the weakness in his voice... He looks like a very sick man... We have been kind here at Mapleleafweb...and no one wishes the worst for the leader of the left and the oppostion - I suspect Jack knew from the begining of the campaign that he was not out of the woods. As for the way Jack looks - you do not recover once you have reached that stage. Sad to say...Jack will not be back. He knows it also. I send him sympathy and love - for what he is about to go through..it will not be "the fight of his life" - It will be unimaginable suffering...May his family and Jack be granted devine mercy and comfort. Jack was ambitious right to the bitter end - even if he knew he would not lead - at least he finally established a New Democratic Party in Canada - and as it evolved out of blue collar socialism...into a moderate peoples party - Jacks life long dream did come true...and was it worth the life long fight? I believe it was..with out the NDP - the nation would be in a less civilized state - Jack is a hero. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 We all like being right about things, but this time I wish I wasn't. I didn't think Jack would be able to escape further cancers. Stress is the worse thing a person battling cancer can have, it doesn't let the body fight the cancer and depending on the treatment he has had, that too, can stop the survival rate. I really hope he makes it, but its going to take a BIG miracle for him to survive this and miracles do happen to some people with cancer. I saw him today and it reminded me of my mom who didn't survive and they gave her 6 months and 3 and 6 months is the normal, depending how far along the cancer has spread. My spouse had cancer and DID survive and the difference is, he never lost any weight and she did, down to 80 lbs. Very sad for his family and I pray he can make it and be that miracle. My own father suffered the stress of the tail end of a revolution as a boy - then a world war - then starvation - then prison - then migration - then assimulation after immigration - his whole life was stolen from him..It was continued stress over the period of a life time that killed him...as he was dying he said "who put this devil in me" - the cancer was spreading and it was intense...as was the pain....The devil he mentioned was stress - a constant and relentless harrassment of the mind and body by outside forces that were not condusive to life...Jack has fought all his life and now the flesh has given way to evil natural sources...some things are not worth fighting for - but some have no choice because of the circumstances of birth and life in general - I send my love to Jack...The greatest heart break I ever suffered was to see my heart broken father pass from this world. William Ashley Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Mulcair needs to remain the Quebec chief. Layton made the right suggestion. When I saw the original post I didn't know it was an interim leadership and a temporary leave of absence. I think him having 60 days or less to live is a slim shot so he would likely be back for how long or for 4 years is another question. I would be very surprised if a former-separatist union leader would be seen as a viable candidate to run against Harper and win. I could be wrong however. It would be interesting to see what happened with it, but as far as the media Identity it seems far more weight is on Mulclair as someone that is respected in Quebec as well as someone who has a very strong capacity to be angloesque. He will also be about 60 when the next election rolls around. Rae would be over 65 and Harper would still be the young one at 55. " Member of the National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Chomedey in Laval from 1994 to 2007. He served as the Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks from 2003 until 2006. Elected MP for Outremont in a by-election in 2007, he was named Deputy Leader of the New Democratic Party, jointly with Libby Davies, On May 26, 2011 he was named the New Democratic Party's Opposition House Leader." In that respect he is in the inner circle already as Q.C. -- under Jean Charest's Liberal Party in Quebec. I think that the interim thing more so represents putting the person into the public known so as to strengthen the awareness of her, as well as put someone in strong support of labour after the recent union issues with Air Canada and Canada post as a person of like mind. It is actually very suprising that Provincial Seperatists and Liberals are well housed within the Federal NDP. Libby Davies has way to much hate directed at them imo to be considered as a winning leader, I would be very surprised at that one. Of course Jack still has a pulse so this is all conjecture. cybercoma Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 People need to stop calling her a separatist. It's pretty dishonest given that she, according to punked, spoke out against separatism. If the union chose that party to support, she can't very well overrule the membership. She did the right thing by distancing them from the separatist agenda though. Calling her a separatist is nothing short of intellectual dishonesty and more than likely libel. The same stupid things were said about Michaelle Jean and she didn't rip the country apart. Quote
