Shwa Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 From the Ottawa Citizen Controversial American academic barred from Canada for third time Interesting that the focus of this article shifts from Mr. Ayers lack of success in getting into Canada to the content of the conference he is supposed to attend. In 2009, Bill Ayers was twice denied entry into Canada. Ayers was a founding member of the Weather Underground, a group that believed peaceful protests were ineffective and turned to violence to protest America's war in Vietnam. The Weathermen, as members were called, bombed police stations and the U.S. State Department building in Washington. By 1980, the group was essentially history, but is still referred to as a domestic terrorist group by the FBI. And really, why should we welcome former terrorists? We have enough of our own. Ayers said his lawyers are poring through American justice records to find evidence to challenge the Canadian stance that he has a felony conviction — Ayers said he has a felony charge, but not a conviction — and gain entry to the country in time for a major education conference that could attract more than 20,000 participants. Shady Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Billy needs to realize that actions have consequences. You can choose to be a domestic terrorist bomber. But it may have negative repercussions in the future. Well, that future is now. Suck it up Billy. Quote
