noelandmero
I was told by a fellow Canadian in the US this morining that we will be getting poll results as they are reported and not after all the polls Canada wide are closed. Is this true?
Kiraly
Yes it is. I believe they're closing the polls a little bit later back east and a little bit earlier out here. I think results from the Atlantic will be trickling in as the polls in B.C. are close to being closed.
Stoker
yes, tv coverage starts at 3:30 pm out here on the coast....
noelandmero
So voters in BC will not be able to see how the rest of the country has voted and vote strategically then? Stoker are you on P.S.T. for that time?
Stoker
sorry might have misread your first question.....yes we will be able to see how the vote is going on the east coast....the first polls start closing about 3:30 pm PST.... And yes, I'm on the loony left coast
August1991
Maritimers vote until 8:30 local time, and Columbians vote until 7 pm local time. The staggered hours by region are available here at Elections Canada. Canada has 4 1/2 hours difference: Pacific (BC), Mountain (Alta, Sask), Central (Man), Eastern (Ont/Que), Atlantic and Nfld. noelandmero
Are they going to allow stupid ass exit polling like here in the US or are they at least smart enough to try and avoid an election ala Gore/Bush? Thanks everyone. PS Who do think will Have the best coverage?
August1991
Are they going to allow stupid ass exit polling like here in the USElections Canada forbids reports of exit polls, and reports of polls 48 hours (I think) before an election. (Elections Canada also requires that pollsters make public all technical details of polls within 24 hours of initial publication.) Welcome to the Nanny State! Kiraly
Who do think will Have the best coverage? Hard to say as I'm not sure which political analyists will be on which networks. Having said this, I will probably start by switching back and forth between Global and CPAC. Judging by the election coverage from CTV and CBC as of the last few days, I won't bother checking them... ...unless of course it looks like the Conservatives may pull off an upset than I'll take a peak to see if I can catch Mansbridge cry. Stoker
Yeah I'll be watching Global as well..........but when it looks as if the Conservatives will win, I wonder how long it will take for the Toadies over at the CBC to change their tune........ First person I want canned from the CBC is Jian Ghomeshi.....can't stand the bugger......followed by who ever put the seven second muzzle on Don......Hell, I guess it would be easier to figure out who I wouldn't want gone
Reverend Blair
First person I want canned from the CBC is Jian Ghomeshi.....can't stand the bugger I thought you and I would never agree on anything, Stoker, but there you have it. Wanna go on a date sometime? I do like Jian's now dismembered band, and I do think that some musicians make excellent political/social commentators. Ghomeshi isn't Steve Earle though. Other than having the eyes of an Arabian princess and a cool singing ability, he really hasn't got a lot going for him. I will be watching the CBC on Monday though, as well as CTV, Global and CPAC. I'll likely miss as much as I see because they never seem to rotate their commentaries so that we can all see all of them. What usually happens is that you see the talking heads, then see numbers for 45 minutes, then see some more talking heads. There oughtta be a law about that...no two competing segments on competing channels at the same time.
August1991
I'm an old traditional. I'll go with CBC and Radio-Canada. I want to hear Bernard Derome's "Si la tendance se maintient..." Like going to a Chinese buffet with friends (when I don't want Chinese), I reckon that I paid the taxes so I should get the worth of my money. takeanumber
I'm sure Craig Oliver will be thrilled with a Harper victory. I'm also sure that 'the duff' will be too.
Reverend Blair
Is Duff still allowed to have thrills? No, I don't mean health-wise.
takeanumber
He's definitely not likable. Same thing with Craig Oliver. And WTF is with the whole journalists interviewing journalists thing? Why should I care what Craig Oliver thinks? Why should I care what Peter Bogue thinks? Enough with the self-indulging tripe?
