YEGmann Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 ***Sigh*** Here we go again... For the umpteenth TIME... F/A-18E/F "Super Hornet" - On September 28, 2010, Boeing C announced it had been awarded a new multi-year procurement contract valued at $5.297 billion from the U.S. Navy for 124 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft. Under the terms of the agreement, Boeing is to deliver 66 Super Hornets and ***58 Growlers to the Navy from 2012 through 2015. - NOTE: ***EA-18G Growlers are Airborne Electronic Attack Aircraft - Production cost on a unit flyaway basis will be 15-18% more than a basic F/A-18F in then-year dollars. An EA-18 will cost $7-9 million more, based on the nominal Super Hornet unit price of $50 million by the end of the current multi-year procurement contract. - Ha-ha! You numbers are based on underestimated fly-away cost of the aircraft. In the fly-away configuration you cannot operate aircraft for long time. In reality US Navy pays much (50%) more. There are more than one contract. F/A-18 E/F approaches $90 mln a piece. Growler is more expensive. For 12 EF-18G in 2011 USN will cough up $1,095,106.000 (in thousands). This is $91.2 mln a piece. Specially for you: Prior 2010, procurement of 56 Growlers cost USN Navy $4,391,031.999 (in thousands). Now you say 58 Growlers plus 66 Super Hornets will cost US taxpayers only $5.3 billion?! Quote

William Ashley Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 I didn't say a thing, I left you the link to who did... The conservatives in 5 years have put Canada in debt more than any other government in the history of Canada. ECONOMIC INCOMPETENCE SOLVED. Quote I was here.
