madmax Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 I remember like it was yesterday, Chretien laughing that the Right is split and Reform and Conservatives cannot agree on anything.. Interesting how Karma works. Who would have thought that MORE TORY TRICKS would mean Turning Tricks... LOL. Congrats to Harpers Right Hand Man. Quote
Saipan Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 How does that connect to what I said? Quote

Wild Bill Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Remember the movie 'Being There'? "I like to watch!" Quote "A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." -- George Bernard Shaw "There is no point in being difficult when, with a little extra effort, you can be completely impossible."
GWiz Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Gotta love how the NDPers on MLW follow the same old script every TIME no matter what the thread's actually about... "Hammer the Liberals at all costs no matter what the Harper Regime does"! "It's our only hope of maybe gaining another meaningless seat for the NDP even if it means putting the CONS back in power or selling out any 'values' the NDP claim to have." - Jack Layton & the NDP's philosophical imperitive. The Conservatives Can't be trusted with money. Especially when their defence is... "The Liberals"...... thats no defence. Quote
ToadBrother Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 People do rememeber the Shawinigan shenanigans. If we're allowed to bring up long past scandals, maybe I can bring up the Pacific Scandal. You just can't trust those damned Tories, I tell you! Quote

You just can't trust those damned Tories, I tell you! Saipan is a broken record. Conservatives are allowed to lie, cheat and steal, jerry righ books and engage in blatant Patronage Appointments. Undermining Democracy and crapping on the public while running up the deficit to unheard of figures. Its a record deficit brought to us by fiscal incompetents. But we are to believe they are good money managers and conservative corruption must be ignored, because... "The Liberals". Quote

However, so were the Liberals. Most of us that voted Tory or even Liberal are not likely to ever vote NDP. What does that leave us? As I keep saying, we can only vote for who stinks the least! At the moment, the stink of the former Liberal administrations and the ineptitude of Ignatieff's crew is still greater than that of Harper and his bunch. Not by much, perhaps. Still definitely not quite as rank. Maybe next election? As I've posted before, I could switch my vote if the Liberals finally got their act together! Most of us that voted Tory or even Liberal are not likely to ever vote NDP. What does that leave us? For a person like you... either a nose plug or new party. Ironically you reside in the regions that the NDP tossed out the LPC. And I believe you actually have some of the best and hardest working MPs regardless of their party or whether you agree with them. So, Clearly some are going to vote NDP, and some are going to grab nose plugs, some are going to stay home and some may just go back to the Liberals and what the Emerson effect all over again. Unfortuneately there are few Chuck Cadmans in Politics. As I keep saying, we can only vote for who stinks the least! At the moment, the stink of the former Liberal administrations and the ineptitude of Ignatieff's crew is still greater than that of Harper and his bunch. Not by much, perhaps. Still definitely not quite as rank. I don't see alot from the Liberals except a desire that its "Their turn" and they would do things different? Maybe next election? As I've posted before, I could switch my vote if the Liberals finally got their act together! Much depends on the Candidate and the Representation they give. I have found that on average the NDP MPs give the best constituent support and do so in order to maintain their jobs. There are others in CPC and the LPC that are also good Constituent Politicians. Others reside on pork or the fact that they have a default Red or Blue riding and don't have to earn their supper. Bev Oda comes to mind. Regardless, I value my vote. I find it has more power if I can move it around and it has no power if not used. For many Conservatives I don't think there is enough mud to make them move their vote. But there is enough mud to make them be concerned about the direction of the party and the background of the people behind the scenes. This patronage and pork show is the furthest from Reform I can imagine. It felt like somehow the old PCs swallowed Reform. It seemed impossible, but if you look at what happened, it seems Harper was a reformer of Convinience. He feels more Republican and with all the dirt that goes with that. Quote

madmax Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 What stops you from electing more? Lets hope we do, Theres alot of deadwood Conservatives that need to be swept out. It would be great if it happened at the riding associations where they could install some talent in these electable ridings. Instead of electing these people they have a pulse and a blue vest on. Thats not going to happen in the top down Blue party. The days of grassroots reform are past and we are likely a generation away from another serious house cleaning. So, it looks like Incompetence and corruption may be the norm for awhile. Quote
