Well, if Bebe Doc Duvalier can do so, why not Aristide? At least he wasn't behind murders like the Duvaliers were.

Aristide's ouster was backed by three prominent Western nations, and was illegitimate.

I am under this impression as well. Canada did what it could to prop up Aristide, and end up taking him out too.

I remember him claiming that US army troops told him at gun point to leave for his own protection... this was met with folks rolling their eyes, but he seemed adamant as if he actually was violated.
