No...that would violate my rights. I guess we'll have to start over and explain it to you again. See...there were these rich dudes in the original 13 British colonies....

No...your choice to refrain from posting would not violate your rights. I think you need to educate yourself as to what those rich dudes helped generate.

My point was that you said it was a "non-issue," and your reasoning was that nothing illegal was done.

Meaning that all contentions and controversies on this board, and everywhere else, are "non-issues" so long as the law is not being broken.

Certainly, this includes your contributions as well.

I have placed no such restrictions on your choice to post here....see the difference?

It's a non issue for me...same as last night's hockey scores. Another member opined that their bigoted words (directed at children - oh my!) were not legitimate.

Certainly, this includes your contributions as well.

Most of my posts are non-issues as well...just great fun!

I am afraid you do not get it. Disagreeing with anti-Muslim hate mongerers is a violation of their right of free speech. And free-speech does not include disagreeing with them, or expressing an opinion about them.

I have placed no restrictions on your choice to post here either. So, no difference.

That's incorrect. You agree with the bigoted comments.

Most of my posts are non-issues as well...just great fun!

You have no idea what you're even talking about. Which, in a way, is a restriction on your speech; but it's not in any way my fault.

Just so. Criticism and disagreement is seen as a "restriction" on freedom of speech.

By those who have no understanding of the concept. Like our American poster in this thread.

How would you know this? All bigoted speech is to be protected, whether in agreement or not.

OK...soon to be followed by references to "pantywaists". Got it...

Needless to say, there is no evidence that anyone suggested that any of the morons who hurled insults at Muslim children at that event be charged with any crime because of what they said, mainly because nobody has suggested that. THAT would constitute an attack on their freedom of expression.

Nope....but someone did suggest that their actions and words were not "legitimate". I wonder why?

Because some of us--like myself--don't like bigotry. And others--like you--admire it.

This Muslim-sponsored event was about raising money for women's shelters and for homelessness...so of course protests were in order.

At least the presence of small children didn't deter the courageous bigots, which is a real plus for them, don't you think?

Well, if there are any doubts that fascism is growing in America, this video pretty much puts it to rest!

Yes...I admire the free exercise of American rights even when it comes to bigotry. It's what makes us different from people like yourself who don't like it.

No, no, don't try to be clever, you're not good at it.

I very much like the American free exercise of rights. But I wasn't talking about your love of the free exercise of rights, but rather your admiration and agreement with the bigoted sentiments themselves.

Ok...now's the part where you express your misunderstanding of the principles of free speech, by declaring that I'm somehow trying to suppress your rights, by disagreeing with your bigotry. Round and round we go.

Mind you, I don't see legitimate as being synonym with legal or illegitimate as meaning ought to be made illegal. So anyone who would like to portray me as trying to remove's anyone freedom of speech is barking at the wrong tree.

Yes, well, it's not as if BC_2004 is trying to make a serious argument anyway.

I don't have to be good...such rights exist whether I am clever or not. You are powerless to change this.

You have no information to make such an assessment, but we do know that you hate America and any such rights as they are practiced.

Not quite...but still great fun. I have gotten you to back pedal and insist on the protester's rights to protest with bigoted speech. I have turned your intention with this OP completely upside down.

Good...I am glad to see that you support their right to "bigoted" speech and the free exercise thereof, regardless of your own personal views.

Here is another event that indicates just where things are going these days-

Congressional hearing on US muslims

A veritable "Wannsee conference" in the making?

Wannsee was the plotting of the Final Solution. Do you really think that's what this 'congressional hearing on Muslims' role in homegrown terrorism' is about?

I have no wish to change it. At all. You'd know this if you'd have followed this discussion.

You have no information to make such an assessment,

Sure I do. I know how to read.

but we do know that you hate America and any such rights as they are practiced.

Your periodic, oversensitive little temper tantrums about America! aside, I don't hate it it all. And I like and respect the institutionalized protection of rights in the United States.

You know all this, of course, since it's come up several times. You're getting desperate now. I think your military service has made you frail and stupid.

Sorry, little guy, you're dead wrong. And I can prove it: go back, and read my comments to CANADIEN; it's in post #3, or thereabouts, well before you chimed with your admiration for bigotry.

Go ahead, check it out. Consider it a challenge.

Let's admit it. Some people's attempt to prevent US from expressing an opinion THEY don't like is actually pretty funny.
