PIK Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) Who has been thrown out of the senate, in 2007 for fraud. He and his lawyers has kept this going and he is still collecting his 130g's a year,ok he is not convicted yet, I can live with that but how does the man spend his 10g's( month??) in his expense account if he is not in the senate? This is just another disgust on the tardyness of the justice system. 9 month and longer trials are ridiculus. We need more judges and more courts and more rationality. I think this would have been prevented if senate spending rules were clear. Lavigne agreed to pay back the $23,000 used to do work on his estate There is two and a half months of it. The final ruling is expected to be set on January 7, 2011 That is tomorrow. Edited January 7, 2011 by William Ashley Quote I was here.
Topaz Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Not to worry, the Conservative leader for the senate, Le Breton is on the job. She is sending letters to Conservative Senator Tkachuk, who chairs a committee on internal economy and Lib. Senator Smith, who chairs the committee on rules and procedures to correct the problem. The present problem is that nothing can be done until the senator has his day in court. http://www.montrealgazette.com/Spending+habits+senator+accused+fraud+spark+call+crackdown/4072237/story.html Quote
Molly Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Precious that Dave Tkachuk is both the one who brought it to light, and one of those invited to review it... Tkachuk being one of the crowd appointed by Mulroney, when he expanded the ranks of the senate, in order to subvert it. Not many petunias in that onion patch/ Far too many glass houses for so much throwing of stones. Quote "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" — L.
