I'd be worried if the police had a reason to be interested in me. I think I'd be rather boring to the police. You should be as well.

I don't think policing deals with being boring or interesting. Your opinion cast the police as totally negligent of the purpose of policing and instead turns them into people that are more intersted in having a good time than doing their job.

Its not like I let police dictate how I live mylife anyway. I don't support suppression, and am only forced by oppression when I have a greater purpose. Police are little more than a moving wall to myself I could care less what they think as part of their profession (As individuals I might be more interested in hearing them out)

Likewise while I can recognize the law, I'm not someone to change my values based upon something I wasn't even consulted in being enforced on me. I act based upon my own convictions and morals, thankfully there arn't too many differences of opinion that have cropped up.

Most is based on ownership (deprivation) but I really havn't had many if any issues surrounding from anything but unjust acts against myself. that were contrary to the law. or exercised against my standard rights under the law, once again deprivation by bias against person.

Ignatieff - Rae - or - hmmm too many perogies LOL

Stephen Harper pro rouged my mind.

this is a serious issue though. The Canadian Customs just stopped working with police forces in drug interdiction.. I'm not sure if it is related.

Like once US intelligence starts sharing all that intel with Canadian Customs - they might turn into front line drug busts because it is lawful to search without warrant at the border - would evidence gained at a border point be admissible? This like saying would evidence obtained at a CF base be admissable simply by posting notice that a search can be performed?

While putting guns with officers has slowly started being phased in. Not all points have gunned border officers.

This latest article really gets at me...

the goal isn't to remove the border, it is to keep the border at the 49th parallel while giving the US a second border around all of north america.... to control inflows of anything -- basically manifest fing destiny..

this really eats at me that Stephen Harper intends to sell out Canadian sovereignty on this. Such a hypocrit after all his northern sovereignty lies. Buying a bunch of american military for northern soverignty then to allow the us to turn Canada into a protectorate is pretty absurd.

My gosh a old school reform grit is masquerading as a tory.

this line is wonderful

Aerial Surveillance Program-

(1) IN GENERAL- In conjunction with the border surveillance plan developed under section 5201 of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (8 U.S.C. 1701 note) and subject to the availability of appropriations for such purpose, the Secretary shall continue to fully integrate and utilize aerial surveillance technologies, including unmanned aerial systems, that the Secretary determines to be necessary to enhance the security of the border between the United States and Canada and the border between the United States and Mexico

aerial surveillance technologies in a variety of topographies and areas, including populated and unpopulated areas located on or near the international border of the United States, to evaluate, for a range of circumstances--

Hmm I wonder what this pact would do other than move it from 'unilaterial espionage' - to prior consented investigation.

From the sounds of it Obama plans on going ahead with this either way.

espionage on foreign intelligence - including criminal intelligence is not unheard of by the US - for instance against INDIA a few years ago. Are Canada's intelligence assets even safe from US eavesdropping.

What assets doesn't the US already have access to?

AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS- There are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary for each of the fiscal years 2011 through 2015 to carry out this subsection.
the Secretary shall establish a program to procure additional unmanned aerial systems, cameras, poles, sensors, satellites, radar coverage, and other technologies necessary--

(A) to achieve effective control of the Northern border and the Southern border; and

(B) to establish a security perimeter known as a `virtual fence' along such international borders to provide a barrier to unauthorized immigration.

The U.S. Army is to conduct an independent assessment of SBInet's interim operating capabilities at the end of the project's first initiative The senate was talking about SBI net like in 2006 or so if I remember correctly... they were considering putting "veterants as minutemen along the border" but it was unfeasable for volunteer veterans to patrol the border as minutemen as they did in the US with personnel acting as minutement - with shoot to kill capacities apparently.

stopping illegal immigration is one thing, but how do you expect to test a system from another country with laws regarding legal entry and exit.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS- In carrying out the program under this subsection, the Secretary, to the maximum extent feasible, shall--

(A) utilize integrated technologies that function cohesively in an automated fashion;

(B) use a standard process to collect, catalog, and report intrusion and response data collected under the program; (this would likely include all biometrics and any other data that may exist.. whatever it may be)

© ensure that future surveillance technology investments and upgrades for the program can be integrated with existing systems;

(F) develop standards to expand the shared use of existing private and governmental structures to install remote surveillance technology infrastructure to the extent possible; and

(G) develop standards to identify and deploy the use of nonpermanent or mobile surveillance platforms that will increase the Secretary's mobility and ability to identify unauthorized border intrusions.

to ensure that other countries meet proper travel document standards and are committed to travel document verification before the nationals of such countries travel internationally
progress made by Canada, Mexico, and the United States to enhance North American security by cooperating on visa policy and identifying best practices regarding immigration security, including--

(A) enhancing consultation among officials who issue visas at the consulates or embassies of Canada, Mexico, or the United States throughout the world to share information, trends, and best practices on visa flows;

developing and implementing an immigration security strategy for North America that utilizes a common security perimeter by enhancing technical assistance for programs and systems to support advance automated reporting and risk targeting of international passengers
the capacity of the United States to combat terrorism through the coordination of counterterrorism efforts,

.. terrorist watch list data;

establishing appropriate linkages among Canada, Mexico, and the United States Terrorist Screening Center
(note that nations recognition of certain groups being terrorist or not has differed.
establishing a multilateral watch list mechanism that would facilitate direct coordination between the country that identifies individuals on a watch list and the country that owns such list, including procedures that satisfy security concerns, comply with privacy laws, and are consistent with the other laws of each participating country;

section on criminal intelligence sharing.

LAW ENFORCEMENT COOPERATION- ... enhancements in law enforcement cooperation among Canada, Mexico, and the United States, including--

(A) enhanced technical assistance for the development and maintenance of a ""national database built upon identified best practices to identify suspected criminals or terrorists; (note not international)

(B) the feasibility of establishing law enforcement teams that include personnel from the United States and Mexico; and (NO CANADA??)

© the appropriate procedures for such multinational teams.

SIGN OF THINGS TO COME??

assign agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to the United States mission in Mexico to work with Mexican law enforcement agencies in conducting investigations relating to firearms trafficking and other criminal enterprises;

Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Commissioner, in consultation with the Secretary, shall develop a plan to expand the programs of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism established pursuant to section 211 of the SAFE Port Act (6 U.S.C. 961), including adding additional personnel for such programs along the Northern border and the Southern border.
