Democrats Jumping Ship

Recommended Posts

I'm still aboard the Democratic Party. Fits my left-wing agenda to a "t".

You think a county commissioner from Georgia changing parties is thread-worthy? This should provoke some fascinating discussion.

(yawn)

And a Mayor in a New Jersey town.

Party switching is alive and well in Louisiana as seen by the recent defections of two prominent Democrats, State Sen. John Alario of Westwego, and State Sen. John Smith of Leesville to the Republican Party, and by the recent news that another well known Democrat, Rep. Noble Ellington of Winnsboro, saying that he is 95 percent sure that he will switch to the GOP.

What a a perfect example of ignorance about our system of government…state representatives switching parties is no biggie…only a greenie would consider it deserving of a mention. Oh, silly me, this thread was started because a county commisioner switched parties , and now this sounds like an attempt to save face.

3 Democrats — 2 senators, 1 governor — to retire

WASHINGTON – With the 2010 election year barely under way, two senators and one governor — all Democrats — ditched plans to run for re-election in the latest signs of trouble for President Barack Obama's party.

Taken together, the decisions by Sens. Chris Dodd of Connecticut and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota as well as Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter caused another bout of heartburn for Democrats as they struggle to defend themselves in a sour political environment for incumbents, particularly the party in charge.

Democrats in five states have switched parties since Nov. 2, saying they were concerned about the economy and the political leanings of their constituents

There must be some more GOP blogs out there that use this talking point. Add some more! Somebody's bound to believe these nobodies are important and that people don't switch parties all the time.

I agree that the number and prominence of party-switchers is not great, yet.

But during the 1950's and 1960's the switch of Wayne Morse, an Oregon Senator to the Democrats signalled growing strength in the anti-war movement. Similarly, Strom Thurmond's switch the other way in 1954 signalled that the bigots and segregationists were moving to the Republicans.

Revolution and spin are synonyms, especially for those old enough to know what vinyl records are.

I can relate to that and who is actually spinning LOL
