A member of the Ontario PC has brought forward a private members bill to ban smoking to anyone under the age of 19. Why didn't the Tories go further and ban All smokers? Well, it might be that there are MORE voters over 19 than 18-19 who probably don't vote. I see the dangers in smoking but its gotta to be fair and balanced. http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20101006/youth-smoke-101006/20101006/?hub=TorontoNewHome

And it's got to be rational. This law is fundamentally unenforceable in any meaningful way. Unenforceable laws are simply wastes of time, in this case Ontario taxpayers' time, and I think the Liberal government in Ontario is doing enough of that already.

Hmm what am I missing? I thought people below 19 already weren't allowed to smoke?

Sure they are, they just cant buy it. Anyone selling to an under 19 is illegal and so is giving it to them.

But possession and smoking is not against the law.

Gotta love these PCs...

I think this bill goes hand in hand with another major crises.

The Liberal bill to go after those Cigerrette Butttss..

Yes, in these trying economic times, Conservatives and Liberals join forces in getting their priorities straight. :P
