Topaz Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 No one in Ottawa has get gone to the store and checked if they are a winner and some are wondering why? Could be that person really doesn't need the 25 Million as others would? Or has a politican won it? Or is the winner/s just getting things together before making it public. I guess the rest of us will just have to wait and see and I hope they REALLY need the money. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/cbc/100818/canada/canada_ottawa_ottawa_lotto_max_winner_1 Quote

Topaz Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 Here's the question, if you won the 25 or 50 million what would you do with it? My answer is, my spouse and I would give a million to each kid, then we split down the middle after paying off all debts. We would update our house then sell it or rent it out. I would give some to cetain charties, especially now the way things are. I'd buy myself a new car, look for an apartment or condo near water and just take some down time to think about the future and how the money could help others as well as me and mine. Having all that kind of money wouldn't bring someone any happiness its what you do with the money that does, at least I think so, by helping others who really need the help. Quote
GostHacked Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 10 mill for myself, 10 mill split among my family to get them out of debt (and then it could provide a little extra something for them) and then I'd put 5 mil into some local charity. Quote
Alta4ever Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Keep 500,000 out, Gift my parents and inlaws so they would have a very comfortable retirement, set up trust funds for my kids, gift a couple of charities invest the rest and live on interest. bloodyminded Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 People seem to be of a similar mind on this. And it's smart: don't buy a big mansion, because that's a status symbol that's more trouble than it's worth. And giving lots and lots away to charity is a moral responsibility. Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings
capricorn Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 And giving lots and lots away to charity is a moral responsibility. That, and it's better for your overall health. Persons that would hoard away that much money would live in fear that someone will rob them or kill them. I saw an interview on the Steve Paiken show about wealth accumulation. It's said that the more wealth a person accumulates the unhappier the person gets. In other words, there is a threshold and the secret is not to go over it in order to stay sane.
