Pliny Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Yes, Allan Rock is a coward. Even though he got "everyone" to register their guns. He remains acting cowardly. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
Argus Posted July 3, 2010 Author Report Posted July 3, 2010 Yes, Allan Rock is a coward. Even though he got "everyone" to register their guns. He remains acting cowardly. He was always a useless, politically correct tool. A firestorm followed the release of Mr. Houle’s sneering email. He received hundreds of angry, often vicious emails. Dozens of newspapers, this one included, wondered about his fitness for the job a leading a university, which is supposed to be a sanctuary for free inquiry, not a shrine for the worship of political correctness. Not once during the maelstrom heaped upon Mr. Houle did Mr. Rock step up and admit he was actually the person behind his vice-president’s correspondence Allan Rock's Faulty Concept of Free Speech Quote "A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley
Muddy Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Back to the subject of this thread! Yes, I agree the Allen Rock is a coward. Other wise he would have rode to the fore and took responsibility for Houles infamous letter. Quote
bloodyminded Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 True. While I too object to Houle's letter, and don't buy the coy argument that it wasn't "meant as it sounds," Rock seems worse to me. ReeferMadness Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) The letter to Coulter was certainly a blunder. It's hard to believe an experienced politician could be politically naive as to give an adversary ready ammunition. But in no way is Anne Coulter a victim. She wasn't (as she claimed) "prevented" from speaking. She used both the letter and the Ottawa fracas as part of her publicity campaign. Without them, most of us would have been entirely unaware that this pathetic creature was going to be in our country. WRT Allan Rock, yes he certainly ought to own up to his part in sending the letter. Still is anyone really surprised? Most people in senior leaderhsip positions have their minions do things so they can have plausible deniability. WIP Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 There is a difference between someone who speaks on conservative topics which infuriate effete liberals, and someone who supports terrorism and inspires terrorism in others. You get back to me when any of Coulter's admirers start setting off suicide bombs. Coulter is a fascist, no different than Limbaugh, Beck and O'Reilly. Some of their fringe nutcase fans bring their guns to tea party rallies, make death threats, and some of the most extreme fans have killed people because of the crap that these dispicable fascists spew forth. WIP Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 In Toronto pretty much every talk radio station (like any other city, really) staffs windbag Conservatives who tote the party line as if their lives depend on it. Maybe their lives don't depend on it, but their jobs sure do! What I'd like to know is, if the radio broadcast business is just profit-driven, how the hell does a city like Hamilton have nothing but conservative hacks on the only two AM talk radio stations in town? The far right has shown that they are willing to support money-losing newspapers and magazines, as long as they print their propaganda -- same thing goes for radio. WIP Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) You can't honestly critique an author's work without reading that author's writing. You can't go on what you heard. Well, I read two of her books: Treason and Godless, and I can thank Ann Coulter for going so ridiculous, that her writing led me to become disillusioned with conservatism and the libertarian movement.....thanks Ann. Most of Treason is revisionist history...an attempt to rehabilitate American fascist - Joe McCarthy, and Godless was the most laughable piece of crap I ever read! Coulter even had to admit afterwards when she wasn't able to discuss the almost one third of Godless that was devoted to intelligent design, and an attempt to debunk evolution -- that Discovery Institute fellows: Michael Behe, David Berlinski, and William Dembski wrote most of the creationist part. Combine all the ghost writing with the fake source notes in the back of her books, and it's easy to dismiss her writing as fraudulent garbage. But, in Coulter's defense, nobody except crazy fans believe that Hannity, Limbaugh and O'Reilly actually write their books either!
