Born Free Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Your argument is comparing apples to oranges, unless one is attempting to kill themselves by walking off a curb. Either way you can't very well compare an accident with intentionally, continually, and knowingly harming your body. Be that as it may, my central point remains the same. Regardless of whether we like/dislike agree/disagree with what/who is covered, it/they are covered all the same. So maybe you don't think abortion should be covered, well that's just ducky; until the laws are changed all you can do is whine about it. Changing the law might be a sight easier than for me to convince society in general that prevention through healthy living is the cheapest way to cut our rising health care costs. Not at all. You are telling us you dont approve of people who are obese, etc of getting government health care. You are saying their illness is self induced. Well I dont approve if you act stupidly and injure yourself and cost us taxpayers countless thousands in your hospital recuperation. I'm not whining about abortion or anything else. You are the one doing the whining. I merely took your example and used it against you. As far as educating society about their wellness and healthy living...its been a great idea...but lets not play God about it. Quote

Not at all skilfully I might add. Don't get me wrong I'm a firm believer in that we can all go to hell in our own way. I just don't think I should have to pay for your self induced health issues. But alas that's the way universal coverage works. As far as educating society about their wellness and healthy living...its been a great idea...but lets not play God about it. Let's not be melodramatic about this; prevention is far easier and cheaper to achieve then fixing an issue after the fact. The same goes for your rather inane hit by a cement truck example. Look both ways before you cross the street, advice like that goes a long way. Quote Follow the man who seeks the truth; run from the man who has found it. -Vaclav Haval-
Born Free Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Dave_ON... I just don't think I should have to pay for your self induced health issues. I was trying to be polite about it all. You made your point and it is utterly stupid. Repeating it doesnt make it any less stupid. Get it now? Quote

I see, so rather than offering well thought out counter arguments you simply call it stupid. Because you say it is stupid, in spite of arguments to the contrary, it must be so, Abe Lincoln once said "To say a sheep has five legs does not make it so." He was likely just being stupid as well. The counter argument has already been made to you. Even if you occasionally stumble over the truth, you seem to prefer to pick yourself up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.
